@oakeshottboy @sunnyright Its how are Stats work. We use IC5 Oriental for Eastern Asian, we differenciate between IC1 Northern (light skin) & IC2 Southern Europeans (darker skin). We also use IC3 for Black Afro-Carribean, unlike the US who'd use African-American. IC4 Asian - IC6 Arab or North African.

@sunnyright They aren't covering it up. "Asian" has a very different connotation in the UK than in the US, they primarily think of subcontinentals when they hear it.

@enigmartyr @sunnyright In the UK are courts, Police and stats use asian for people in sub-continental regions, and oriental for east asian, we do the same for northern & southern Europeans, one being dark eg Greeks, spanish, & pale peple like brits & swedes. Its our language so try learning it.

We do the same with Northern and Southern Europeans, the clue is the North is pailer than the tanned southerners. We can tell because we aren't yanks.
