@TheJawnzz @Mon4Kooyong Hey mate, you would have already paid the $4000 on the $45000 you have already earned. It’s not something you have to pay once you reach $45,000. Each dollar over $45000 you will be taxed 30c on. So if you have earned $45001, your total tax would have been $4000.30c.

Can I ask why, when I earn over 45,000, I don’t just start to pay 30c on the dollar, I also have to pay over $4000? This kind of ridiculous tax scheme incentivises working Australians to cut their hours so they remain in the lower tax bracket. My wife and I are about to do this. Live off $90,000 p.a combined. I will literally do anything to ensure that this government receives less of my tax dollars.
