So, first up. A blanket suppresses the fire - doesn’t extinguish it. Even pro ev lobbyists like EV Firesafe have a message NOT to claim “extinguishing” a self oxidising EV fire. 2nd there are firefighters without SCBA playing a role with the blanket role out seemingly unaware or unconcerned about the HF damage to their Heart Lungs or the Cobalt Poisoning possible via the unprotected face. Even of the SCBA wearers? 3rd and in common with most of the world. No one is taking names of passerbys and residents who might have been downwind of this HAZMAT EV fire?

It’s bizarre to hear a US FF arguing about a fire truck briefly passing a burning car while you’re still putting crews on burning roofs.

@AlredThe @TansuYegen The car itself doesn’t explode. But the shock absorbers in bumpers do. Tires and wheels do. Enclosed spaces with unknown contents like the trunk do. And all those forces are very directional. The diagonals are relatively safe.

@AlredThe @TansuYegen No - smart firefighters approach burning vehicles from the corners. Explosions are directed to the sides and rear. Same concept with houses charged with explosive gas, or potential bleve of pressurized tanks. Firefighting is all about physical science.
