Can we have an honest conversation about Grandpa, the President of the United States?  Donald Trump has been part of our culture for decades and part of our political conversation for eleven years, so we know him. His attention-seeking behavior has ensured that we had no choice but to know him, perhaps unlike any of his predecessors who occupied the office. Watch videos of 2016 Trump or 2020 Trump and compare his mannerisms and voice then and now. Formerly, he was hyperkinetic; now he falls asleep in public. In RECENT days, he has: attacked the Catholic Pope, mocked Christians more generally by circulating a blasphemous meme depicting himself as Jesus Christ, threatened to annihilate a popular of 93 million people in Iran, mocked Islam's 1.9 billion adherents, alienated our longest allies, threatened the most successful defensive alliance in the history of the world, and alienated many of the most popular influencers who got him elected.  Our country's leader is clearly unwell. As someone who's nearly 70, my observations are not rooted in ageism. But I do know that the declining of cognition is not linear. It accelerates over time. In Trump, our lying eyes do not deceive us. Sadly, our recourses are limited. But, as a nation, this is a conversation that we must have.

I just gotta say that I would be far wealthier had I done the MAGA impersonation so many others have done, but holy hell am I glad I don't have to beclown myself on a daily basis to prove my loyalty to keep the gravy train going. At some point, Trump goes, and all these people are going to have to reinvent themselves yet again to hitch their carts to a new gravy train. I'm embarrassed for them in handling the Jesus tweet, etc. I'm sure they sleep well on their cash, but you can only suppress your sense of shame for so long.
