Today, the entire Georgia 🇬🇪 bows its head in grief. His #Holiness Ilia II was not only a #Patriarch, but a spiritual pillar and the #conscience of our nation — a guiding light for generations, a guardian of #faith, and a symbol of #resilience.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East with deep concern. We emphasise the importance of diplomatic efforts to achieve de-escalation and ensure stability in the region. We advise Georgian citizens to follow the official guidance and take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Our embassies in the region remain fully operational and ready to assist Georgian citizens as needed.

We are closely following developments in Venezuela with the hope that future processes will unfold in line with the best interests of the Venezuelan people. Given that the Venezuelan authorities recognized Georgia’s occupied regions, Abkhazia and the so-called South Ossetia, as independent states in gross violation of international law, we express hope that recent developments will lead to the reversal of this unlawful decision, in line with Georgia’s national interests and international legal principles.

Continuing to hold meeting with my colleagues, I had the pleasure of meeting the Ambassador of Spain to the US, Angeles Moreno Bau @AMorenoBau and Ambassador of Egypt to the US, Motaz Zahran @MotazZahran. During the meetings we underscored the significance of further deepening bilateral ties, advancing peace initiatives and discussed regional affairs, as well as international opportunities and challenges.

We welcome the #Gaza ceasefire as a hopeful milestone toward peace. President @realDonaldTrump’s decisive diplomacy, supported by the mediation of 🇶🇦 Qatar, 🇪🇬 Egypt, and 🇹🇷 Türkiye, has played a crucial role in reaching this agreement. The immediate release of hostages will pave the way for lasting peace, that remains our shared responsibility.
