@scobo11 @drterrysimpson Young person diagnosed with autism, suddenly explains the great uncles who were a bit "strange". There were people at school with me in the 50s I now recognize as autistic. Severe cases were in institutions and never seen.

@CrunchAlias It is the stupid idea that these men are real, genuine, actual women who deserve all the rights of woman that is the problem. Be Trans, a special type of man, as we have a unique biology as women and mothers. Don't steal our things.

@jaymurt2805 @helenstaniland @MatthewGreenf11 It has never been about having a good enough reason to keep them out. We must demand to know what reasons there are for letting them IN. Women were given single sex spaces for privacy, safety and dignity. Tell us what has changed.

We do - and always have - exclude the entire group male adults from female changing rooms and toilets. It's amazing how much of a fuss some people are making suddenly about a social custom we've had in place for the past century.
Richard Davies@Richard56370536

@gillstewart56 @helenstaniland @SpokeyDokey65 @roisinmurphy If the standard is ‘some individuals within a group have abused access, therefore exclude the entire group’, then the principle would justify excluding far more people than just the group you’re focused on

@MaryMusubi @TerfSchool No evidence for gender treatments but vaccines are well studied and the evidence for their effectiveness is overwhelming. None of my children's friends have died of polio, measles, or diphtheria unlike my mother who lost friends and family.

@drterrysimpson Anyone watch "Mythbusters" TV series? They built machines and used lard as a lubricant so it became a joke to say "needs more lard."

Rapeseed sounds terrible - but it has been around for over 2500 years and is from the Latin word rāpa or rāpum, meaning "turnip". It refers to the plant's botanical relationship to turnips, cabbage, and mustard within the Brassica genus. No oil is "designed" as a lubricant, but if this is the objection almost every oil including beef tallow has been used. Oh, and this canola oil generally contains about 55% to 65% oleic acid (a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid). High-oleic canola oil variants are specifically developed to contain higher levels, typically exceeding 70% to over 78% oleic acid, offering greater stability for cooking. Which by the way is the major fat in olive oil.
Sama Hoole@SamaHoole

Fun fact: rapeseed oil is sold as "vegetable oil" in the UK because the original name was bad for marketing. During the Industrial Revolution, it lubricated steam engines. That was the job. In the 1950s, the FDA classified it as unfit for human consumption. The erucic acid was toxic to the heart. Banned. In the 1970s, Canadian scientists bred a low-acid variant, rebranded it "canola," and walked it onto the dinner plate. Now it's drizzled on salads, baked into bread, and labelled "heart healthy" on the bottle. Industrial lubricant. Renamed. Repositioned. Sold to the public as the responsible choice. In addition to calories, it generously provides oxidative stress, inflammation, and a steady contribution to every chronic disease the country is currently drowning in.

@StevenShorrock When they announced ME was deconditioning patients demanded they test real patients to see if they actually were deconditioned but no, might have disproved it! Like saying all patients have spots without ever looking. Soundbite science.

One attractive thing* about psychological explanations of Long Covid and ME/CFS is that they seem to demand no evidence and are hard to disprove (and therefore are unscientific). One can always claim that the brain is stuck in sympathetic mode without proving this to be the case, for any LC or ME/CFS subtypes. It’s a thought-stopping and research-quashing pseudoexplanation. Claims made without evidence can be dismissed similarly, but evidence of physiological dysfunction does exist. Research like this consumes funds which could be used productively on biomarkers and mechanistically appropriate treatments. Few would dispute that psychology has its place, for associated or sequelae conditions. How we think and what we feel is important for our general wellbeing. But claims must be specific, proportionate and realistic. Claims of being stuck in defence mode only encourage deniers, uneducated clinicians, and of course CFS influencers selling their brain training approaches (which have even less evidence than NLP!). The ethics of all of this seem to have been ignored. * There other attractive things, such the next step of the patient pathway - psychological therapy, which is inconveniently ineffective for non-psychological conditions such as ME/CFS and Long Covid.
ME/CFS Science@mecfsskeptic

9) Curious that these null results weren't mentioned in the French interview with L'Express. In it, the consortium leaders argued that biological studies only lead to null results and that a psychological approach ("Un cerveau bloqué en mode défense") is more promising.

@JunusAnna In any other disease, if treatments may have irreversible side effects, patients will demand something to be done, not demand their continued use for children. Shows they have no empathy with kids at all, just using them.

I'm tired of people telling me I'm unkind and have no empathy because I have empathy for women and girls. Apparently, that kind of empathy doesn't count. It only counts if you have empathy towards men who claim to be women.

@cjwingyorks @1goodtern I think ME and CFS are the only diseases where the "experts" claimed that patients were terrorists who were threatening them so much they felt safer in Afghanistan. Along with implied laziness, it's no wonder we were afraid to say what we had.

JK Rowling comes under friendly fire for sometimes using wrong sex pronouns. Even our favorites can sometimes use manipulations to justify toxic positions. I respond to JK Rowling herself, expose her manipulations, and explain why “Pronouns are Rohypnol.*” *I discuss this highly useful article by Deborah Kerr as well as what Dr. Dionne Joseph has written on the matter. **If you haven’t already, sign up for my FREE 30-Minute Boundary Reboot! @SVPhillimore A woman is an adult human female. A female human, in the same way a female cat, fish, bird, dinosaur, is defined as having a body plan which produces the large gamete. The definition works for most organisms and through eons of time.

Absolute nonsense. Sex is material reality and therefore cannot be changed by applying cloth to a body. This is religious mysticism at its most harmful.
Jasper Lolo@LoloJasper

@MelissatheTERF @SVPhillimore These things, and women & men, are all social constructs. I know that you know that they know. You can deny knowing if it suits your ideology, and force others via threats & coercions to play along with the lie, but it remains a lie. You know that dresses are women's clothes.

As a weekly parkrunner, I could not careless about a trans person running with me. It is not a competitive event, it is a way of getting people out every Saturday morning to be active in an inclusive environment. This is just bonkers.
Ben Bloom@benbloomsport

Two distinct things can be true: 1. Women's sport must be protected. 2. Parkrun allows people to run with dogs/buggies. It's for everyone. It's not a competition. The suggestion that a trans runner is a threat to anyone's morning fun run is ludicrous. telegraph.co.uk/sport/2026/04/…

Presumably @jk_rowling thinks this is fine as long as the geezer doesn't use a disabled parking space. She's already fine with him forcing his 'womanhood' fetish on us, as long as doesn't use the women's toilets (which of course he does). mirror.co.uk/news/real-life…
