I remember last year @taobanker asking what’s the next $COKE, which is not to be confused with $KO. Almost a 30% CAGR for last 10 years. So what’s next? You have to understand Coca Cola’s biz model. Throughout their history, they’ve owned bottlers, had bankers convince them to sell in fire sales, and then had same bankers convince them to buy back at premium. Rinse and repeat of this in various forms. The only ones getting rich off that were the bankers creating harmful churn to generate fees. $KO horrendous returns last few decades are evidence of such. This is one reason I’ve preferred $PEP over KO for a long time now. Coca-Cola Consolidated $COKE benefited from this by buying up bottlers. Unfortunately, that tailwind comes to an end, unless they go international. Between that and major multiple expansion, the valuation doesn’t suggest the next 10 years return will look like the last. Even with that, $COKE remains probably the next best thing to the next COKE, until some other unique situation arises in CPG space that offers significant and reliable growth potential above GDP. @gurufocus @GurufocusC app is source of attached profitability metrics. Even after this $COKE earnings drop, you are still looking at 60% annualized return from the bottom in June vs. the bottom this May. That’s using the present $172 share price, which is significantly off the high of $216 seen in March and again in May pre-earnings.
