@G33kyMick Be me. Tell the fans "screw you, this is what you are going to like". Scream at the fans for not liking it. Watch the resulting crash and burn. Still everyone's fault but mine.

Upsetting news to hear #StarTrek Starfleet Academy will not go past Season 2. The fandom's inability to embrace any new storytelling outside of nostalgia might as well be the death knell for the fandom.

@AuthorTRobare So here's a book about a bunch of kids Who sassed a wizard. That was not too wise. Confabulations follow, like you'd think. (See my profile for details)

@PatJacobson101 Another of these portal-fantasy things, but the protagonists are bratty late-teens from small-town England used to the idea that they can mouth off to anyone. This turns out not to include evil wizards. They have a lot to do to get home, including learning to be better people.

@hwjohnston7 Also, I agree. Like a musician or any other artist really, your performance should continue to improve -- though some of my favourite authors seemed to do some of their best work quite early in their careers.

I fully understand a book needs to be accessible for readers. However, I do believe when an author reaches a certain level they should keep growing. This means tighter prose, well crafted dialogue, and world building that truly immerses the reader. There was another author who said something similar not to long ago. I think him and I are of the same opinion.

@nulltrace @SandyofCthulhu Like I say: make your own mud pies and enjoy all the fruits of your labour, or make expensive goods using someone else's tools and someone else's materials, to be sold to customers that someone else has found. In the latter case, clearly not all the value created belongs to you.

@GilGandel @SandyofCthulhu You're just describing the work my coworkers do lol. They also deserve to own the labor they produce. Capitalism is when you are paid back a fraction of what you produce in a day while communism is where you own what you make in a day.

I assume this guy is trolling because “obey or starve” has been communism’s mission statement from the beginning. Except at the times when it is literally “obey AND starve.”

Very convenient isn't it this attack in Golders Green, 3 men know exactly where to go to find 4 unprotected ambulances, and they have exactly the right tools, packs of solid combustibles to do it. All exactly when they need it to generate support for the war in the Middle East.

@justcastellon I write because I like to write. Since basically free self-publishing became a thing, I also write for the pleasure of having a bound copy with my name on it. Whoever wants to read and live inside my story can go right ahead with my enthusiastic blessing.

Do you write just to call yourself a writer…or to be read? Is the story yours alone, or does it belong to the readers who will live inside it? That answer will anchor every word you choose, every silence you keep, and every truth you dare to tell, whether you’re writing a novel, a poem, or a screenplay.

@tplonyema @iky_fwjett Exchanging the pretence of affection for money or money's worth is not 4D chess, but something millennia older than chess and with a rather less glorious name.

Your mum was basically playing 4D chess with all those Valentine’s Day dates, but your grandparents managed to pull off an accidental checkmate that led straight to marriage. I have so much respect for the "long con" energy here, even if it wasn't actually planned that way. Sometimes the best moves are the ones you didn't even realize you were making.

@nulltrace @SandyofCthulhu Capitalism is when your labour actually has value, because someone organised the supply chain, established that someone would buy the product, and provided the equipment to multiply the power of your labour. Or you could make your own mud pies and see how well you live on it.

@SandyofCthulhu No, capitalism is obey or starve. Obey meaning allow the ruling class to extract your surplus labor value.
