@DocPriyamMD Did you share the confirmatory HIV antibody result? In pregnancy false positive 4th generation Ag/Ab screen is poasible. Also do you have the full syphilis results including TPPA (though titer of 1:16 is high for false positive RPR)?

Today in OPD, a 7-month pregnant woman walked in with her 3-year-old child. She was confused and frustrated, thinking she was in the wrong building. "I just came for a check-up for the baby," she said, annoyed by the endless referrals. I opened her file. VDRL: Positive. HIV: Positive. She appeared to be from a very humble background. I tried to gently explain, "You have two conditions that require treatment, not just for you but to protect your baby." I walked her through the ICTC protocols, need for counselling, to rule out TB and the need for ART etc... She didn't understand. She stared at me blankly, uninterested in the details. "I feel fine," she insisted, just wanting to be referred back to Obstetrics. In Medicine, we are the last people to judge. I probed gently for history, no blood transfusions, no past surgeries. I asked about her husband. "He is fine," she said. "He works as a day laborer in another state. He only comes home once every two months." She stood there, impatient and annoyed, thinking this was just another unnecessary referral she had to deal with. She just wanted to go home. Little did she know, as she held that file in her hand, that her entire life and her family's future had already changed forever...

BREAKING: Iga Swiatek tested positive for trimetazidine and will be suspended for one month. She was provisionally suspended from September 22nd - October 4th. The positive test came in August this year and was due to contaminated melatonin. ITIA rules she had no significant fault or negligence.
