I was very on board with tradition, having this parade come down the Canyon of Heroes. I’ve been on the streets for 15 minutes. They needed to have altered this route to accommodate the crowd. Insanity here.

got here at 6a, a very messy check-in… access point at exchange is allegedly closed as of 7:20a. almost an hour standing here and little movement. and now FDNY bus trying to get through an upset crowd #KnicksParade

All viewing pens for the Knicks championship parade are full, and officials say no one else will be allowed into the designated viewing areas. If you're already inside, don't leave, reentry won't be allowed.

@PaulRieckhoff There are tons of small parades that get 5th Avenue. This parade should've gone from MSG and then down 5th Ave to City Hall. Son git there at 5am and his security line never opened up because the pens filled by 630

I’m not surprised. As someone who lives in Lower Manhattan, there’s just not enough space for all the people. The only solution outside of this would be to extend the parade route north beyond City Hall.

Lower Manhattan will be car-free tomorrow morning for the Knicks Championship Parade. Starting at 7AM, south of Canal Street in Manhattan is shut down to vehicular traffic. The FDR and West Side Highway will remain open. Traffic coming off the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan will only be able to go northbound on the FDR. Plan ahead and use public transportation.

NYPD Commissioner Tisch briefs the press on security details for tomorrow's New York Knicks celebration parade. Something tells me we're not being told the full truth about the current terrorist threat levels. I have never heard of this much security for a parade in my life.
