World Health Day highlights how progress in health starts with science and depends on collaboration. Across countries and disciplines, evidence is helping protect people, animals and the planet. That is the One Health approach in action. But evidence only matters if it is used. Turning science into real outcomes still comes down to the choices we make. Health is a political choice. #WorldHealthDay #StandWithScience #HealthAPoliticalChoice

The wars in the Middle East and Ukraine are interlinked. With our G7 partners, we’ll discuss how to drive de-escalation in the Middle East, as the war's consequences are felt severly worldwide. At the same time, we can’t overlook Ukraine. Russia’s attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are increasing every day. We must keep the pressure on Russia to stop this war and negotiate in good faith. My doorstep ahead of the G7 Foreign Ministers meeting ↓

@G7 foreign ministers set priorities for global stability: civilians protected, supply chains stabilised, and the Strait of Hormuz reopened. These steps shape economic and security realities we’ll report on further. In June, as we place the G7 Leaders’ Briefing Book in the room, we’ll track how these decisions ripple into markets. Governance is the first step. How the world responds is the story we’ll keep bringing to light. @g7_rg #globalgovernace

@G7 foreign ministers are convening in the next two days at the historic Vaux-de-Cernay Abbey, with the world’s attention firmly fixed on the results. They are preparing the ground on three key issues: #energy security, solutions to the Middle East crisis, and continued resolute support for #Ukraine. As the #G7 Leaders’ Summit in Évian draws near, these ministerial meetings will chart the course for the leaders. Decisions made now will define what comes next. @g7_rg

More than ten days into the recent escalation of conflict in the Middle East, health systems are under immense strain. Reports indicate over 1,300 deaths and 9,000 injuries in Iran, at least 570 deaths and over 1,400 injuries in Lebanon, and 15 deaths with 2,142 injuries in Israel. Attacks on health care are increasing, with WHO verifying 18 attacks in Iran, 25 in Lebanon, and 2 in Israel since February 28, resulting in tragic losses among health workers. These attacks not only claim lives but also deprive communities of critical care when they need it most. Public health risks are soaring, with over 100,000 people in Iran and up to 700,000 in Lebanon displaced under deteriorating conditions, facing limited access to clean water and sanitation. Vulnerable populations, especially women and children, are at heightened risk of illness. The situation is compounded by numerous health facility closures. In Lebanon, 49 primary health care centers and five hospitals have shut down due to evacuation orders, while access to medical services is severely restricted in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza. Disruptions in medical supply chains due to airspace restrictions are leading to significant backlogs in essential health supplies for over 1.5 million people across 25 countries. WHO calls on all parties to protect civilians and health care, ensure unimpeded humanitarian access, and work toward de-escalation. The urgency for action is critical to prevent the collapse of already fragile health systems and to support the recovery of impacted communities. Peace is the best medicine!

The @G7 meets in France at a moment of structural strain. Trade fragmentation, rising debt and weakening development finance are eroding stability and distorting growth. The group was founded to steady the system through disciplined coordination. That mandate now needs renewal. Reducing inequalities, strengthening resilience and restoring trust in multilateral cooperation must define this presidency. Support for Ukraine, reform of development finance and credible climate and supply chain strategies cannot remain communique language. They require policy alignment, transparency and measurable delivery. Credibility will rest on execution, not intent. @g7_rg #G7 #G7France #G7Evian2026

🌐 As the world looks to the #G20, global health stands at a pivotal moment between cooperation and growing fragmentation.    In his new article, our president Axel R. Pries reflects on the urgent task of bridging divides at a time when collective action is essential for our health, our climate, and our shared prosperity.   💬 “This year’s G20 summit still offers an opening: an opportunity to build new bridges to overcome contradictions and find new consensus.” - Axel R. Pries, WHS President   He outlines why the G20 remains a critical forum for shaping global health agendas, and how transparent, fair partnerships can turn today’s challenges into long-term opportunities.    The article is part of a publication of the Global Governance project.  👉 Read the full article here: edition.pagesuite.com/html5/reader/p…   #GlobalHealth #HealthForAll
