The Canadian Government has caved to the pressure of the United States on the Gordie Howe Bridge. Canadian taxpayers have paid for the entire $6 billion CAD construction and cost of the bridge. U.S. President Donald Trump has ripped up that deal and demanded that America retains likely 50% of toll revenue collected from the bridge despite the original agreement stating that Canada would recoup the costs first before toll revenues would be split between Canada and Michigan. The estimated timeline for Canadian taxpayers to see a return on investment went from 50 years to potentially over 100 years. This is a sad and disappointing loss for Canada.

Carney still has a 60% approval rating and the Liberals are dominating in the polls. The lesson here is simple. You can spend a decade completely destroying the country, tanking the economy, and replacing the native population with millions of Third Worlders, and as long as you endlessly pander to pensioners you can never lose. Canada is the world’s first gerontocracy.
