According to CMPD last Thursday, July 9, arrest warrants were obtained for Roderick Gresham, 66 in the death of of Angelina Naomi Chicas, 17. On Saturday, June 6, officers responded to a vehicle crash with personal injury call for service in the 4300 block of N. Sharon Amity Road. Upon arrival, officers located a Honda Civic with its unresponsive driver, Ms. Chicas. Officers also located a Chrysler 300 and its driver Mr. Gresham near the Honda Civic. Ms. Chicas was transported to the hospital by MEDIC with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. On Saturday, July 11, Mr. Gresham turned himself in to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Gresham is charged with the following: Involuntary Manslaughter Speeding Reckless Driving CMPD's investigation showed that data obtained from Mr. Gresham's vehicle's ACM (Airbag Control Module) indicated that the 2018 Chrysler 300 was traveling 86 MPH five seconds (5) seconds prior to the collision, reached top speed of 90 MPH, and struck the Honda Civic at speed of 62 MPH. The posted speed limit on N. Sharon Amity Road at the incident location is 40 MPH.
