For months we’ve made the case that privacy-preserving tech isn’t just a consumer feature — it’s necessary security infrastructure for a new threat landscape. The @DCGco + @HarrisPoll data says voters are already there: 1/ 66% of battleground voters want the right to make legal transactions without them being permanently linked to their identity.  That’s a zero-knowledge proof — described by people who’ve never heard the term. The demand is here. 2/ 63% don’t like AI using their data even if it improves the product. 55% would switch to a service that collects nothing.  But only 38% have heard of privacy-preserving tech.  Demand is already running ahead of awareness. 3/ Voters trust themselves with their data (84%) over AI companies (24%) or social media (20%).  Asked how they’d want it handled, a decentralized model wins (31%) — and the runner-up isn’t centralization, it’s “I don’t know what that is” (27%).  The barrier is education, not ideology. The public already wants verifiable privacy. US policy should mirror voter demand .

Two different global AI races juxtaposed perfectly in one timeline: 1. Raw capability: @elonmusk & SpaceX building a from-scratch C training stack for 220,000 GB300s to push ever-larger and faster frontier models. Ingenuity from abundance. 2. Decentralized diffusion: @jon_durbin proving a 176B model can feasibly train across just 4 nodes on the open internet. Ingenuity from constraint. Abundance and Necessity. We’re in two important geostrategic races, and policymakers risk being too singly focused on the first. SpaceX has almost finished writing V1.0 of an in-house AI training stack in C that exact-maps to 220k GB300s with 800G NICs, making heavy use of pipeline parallelism and getting as close to bare metal as possible. The potential speed improvement vs JAX for large training runs is over an order of magnitude.
