I understand. But im saying you burn PROGRADE from earth, at just below escape velocity. This puts your orbital path around the sun into a ridiculously long ellipse. Like thousands kf AU from the sun on each side. This minimizes your angular velocity around the sun at the tip. Where you preform your 2nd burn canceling nearly all of that angular speed very cheaply. This compresses the ellipse so that it intersects the suns diameter. Your craft would still be "orbiting" the sun if it was a point. But the sun has volume and so you can intersect it and impact. It just takes centuries of coasting to reach the tip of your ellipse.

Most people don't understand that the Sun is the hardest place to get to in the Solar System.
