"Simple mindset shifts: - I'm not hurt, I'm healing. - I'm not losing, I'm learning. - I was not rejected, I was redirected. Negative things happen. Negative mindsets make them harder." – @JamesClear

Occasionally I read an article that is so good, I can't stop thinking about it. Yesterday, I came across a piece written by @morganhousel called, “I Have A Few Questions”. It was so good, I copied and pasted it in this thread. none of these words are mine. Hope you enjoy! ⬇️

"In the gym, if you experience no stimulus your muscles won't grow. If you step under 10,000 pounds your body will break. Life is similar. Too much challenge makes life hard, but so does too little." –@JamesClear

Every day is a series of questions. “Do I work out; will I eat right; do I focus on improvement. Or not?” Challenge yourself each day. Train your mind to destroy your distractions & keep the main thing, the main thing. Broken focus is the #1 reason for failure. Keep your focus!

Great teams, teammates, and coaches work through problems by focusing on solutions - clearly define the problem, agree on a process, use active listening, build trust, and do not gossip. #lifeisateamsport

PARENTS: When you blame other things (officials, coaches, conditions, circumstances, teammates) for the situation your son or daughter is in, then you're essentially teaching your child how to be an excuse maker. Set the standard. Be the standard.

"A common mistake among those who work in sports is spending a disproportional amount of time on Xs and Os as compared to time spent learning about people." (Mike Krzyzewski)

NOW IS THE TIME TO: - grind. - get better. - push yourself. - gain an edge. - earn respect. - prove you belong. - set the tone for your team. - separate yourself from the competition. - lay the foundation for a championship. - become a leader. #NowIsTheTime #CultureWins

Coaches: One of the biggest things you can do to create success on your team is to spend more time praising and less time criticizing. A few words of encouragement produce a far greater result than angry lectures. When kids feel empowered, they work more, give more, become more.

Parents: You can’t force your child to be motivated. You can’t make them do more, but you should be teaching them that if they choose to do the minimum, that’s what they’ll get in return. Eventually, they’ll learn the hard way that the bare minimum doesn’t produce desired results

Players: Self evaluation is important to growth. You have to know where you stand in order to continue improving. Always be aware of what you don’t know & what you need to know. Just because you’ve accomplished something doesn’t mean you’re done. There’s always room for more.
