THIS is THAT! Cessationist folks, this is that which is spoken of by the prophet Joel. This is how the Holy Spirit works in God's children! This is what the gift of tongues and interpretation works. Stop pretending like this isn't real. It is real. It is OF GOD!

A spouse who murders a child may justify marital separation and make reconciliation practically impossible. But Scripture distinguishes separation from the right to remarry. Even horrific sins do not automatically dissolve the marriage covenant itself. Jesus uniquely permits divorce for sexual immorality (Matt. 19:9), because sexual sin directly violates the one-flesh nature of marriage in a way other sins do not.

Name an influential woman on the Christian right who has tried to confront the mistreatment of women in the church without being written off as a Jezebel, a false teacher, a feminist, or a threat. I’ll wait. Doesn’t seem to matter how airtight the theology is: The minute they start naming women’s church-inflicted wounds, they’re canceled.

Women can't pastor in America. But we can send them overseas to pastor and die for the faith. Seems legit. Death in the service to the King would be preferential to listening and or reading more stupid comments on the internet about women in ministry from the cessationist camp of unbelief and legalism against God the Holy Spirit.

I understand the desire to avoid treating every disagreement like heresy. But when Scripture speaks clearly about the qualifications and role of pastors, Christians are not being arrogant for wanting to submit to it. You can believe in biblical inerrancy and still speak graciously to those who disagree. But "room for disagreement" cannot become a reason to set aside what God has said simply because sincere people hold another view. Quite frankly, the answer is cut and dry biblically: there are no female pastors.

This sounds reasonable. But SBC pastors have been trained to believe “the Bible is clear on this issue.” For many, it’s not 80%, but 100% certainty with no room for disagreement (“compromise”). Anyone who disagrees has rejected biblical inerrancy/authority and therefore is in sin

Why some of us can rejoice in women “pastors” even if we pretty much disagree with the idea. First, take a less fraught example: baptism. Suppose you’re 80% convinced the Bible endorses only believer’s baptism, not infant baptism. That still means you think there’s a half-decent chance you could be wrong. Since this is a matter of church order rather than morality, perhaps that possibility should be enough to let you attend the baptism of your friends’ infant child and even find some joy in it. After all, there’s a meaningful chance this practice is biblical, as many thoughtful, biblically serious Christians believe. Likewise, suppose you’re 80% convinced the Bible restricts women from doing pastor-like things. That still means you think there’s a half-decent chance you could be wrong. Since this too is a matter of church order rather than morality, perhaps that possibility should be enough to let you sit under the preaching and ministry of a gifted woman and maybe even find some blessing in it. After all, there’s a meaningful chance this too is biblical, as many thoughtful, biblically serious Christians believe. At least, that’s how I’ve come to think about it.

The further a society moves from God, the more confused it becomes about the most basic realities of life: What is a man? What is a woman? What is marriage? What is truth? What is evil? Sin does not enlighten mankind. It blinds him.

"It's written in Bibleese, not English" 'The Passion Translation' translator Brian Simmons says the reason he wrote his crappy version was because "most people read the bible and do not understand it," and so he wanted to rectify that.

@TheMuppetPastor @avine26 Muslims believe God is mutable, so do cessationists. My Bible: Malachi 3:6 (KJV) For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

I am not misrepresenting it. It is provably false (it=cessationism). It is legalism against the Holy Spirit. Of course there are things which God won't do. He won't sin, won't lie, won't promote evil, and won't misrepresent Christ or misquote or twist His Word. Cessationists call things such as speaking in tongues which the apostles did and preached, "of the devil" today. Now I may not be that bright but that doesn't make sense. How can that be of God and of the devil at the same time? Is that how God works? Plus, if the faith depended on the apostles, then all the accoutrements of the faith would have died out with them as well and not just the gifts and the baptism of the HS. That would include baptism in water as well as other things. To draw that line and spell it out for yall is difficult for me to even write. But it would mean even salvation by faith and grace as well, because those things also existed in the times of the apostles . Faith has not ceased therefore the perfect man (resurrection) has not come. We still need faith, salvation and baptism in water as well as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Stop blaspheming God.

@GraceFaithMini2 @TheMuppetPastor No one is saying what the Spirit can or cannot do. It’s more about what the Spirit will or will not do. Don’t misrepresent cessationism. If someone is convinced by their biblical interpretation that the sign gifts have ceased, then so be it. That doesn’t make them legalistic

The sad God of cessationism lacks power, and binds Himself only to a Bible , which itself testifies of God frequently speaking to others audibly and without record in scripture. We don’t know exactly what God said to Deborah, Nathan, Hilda’s, Anna, Huldah, yet we know He did even if the exact words aren’t in the bible. I understand many people lie, but this is tossing out the baby with the bath water. 1 John tells us to test every spirit against scripture, not outright deny it. Who are we to disregard this?

Miss you, Josh. Today was always hard for you with everyone you lost, whose names you had written on your back, and now you're not here to lightly scold anyone who says "Happy Memorial Day."

@RevivedThoughts I wouldn't. I put warning labels on all the books I have by false teachers so that even if they get in the hands of someone down the line, they have been warned.
