@SenBlumenthal Real iconic symbols are being destroyed? When I watched mobs pulling down statues in Washington DC I don’t recall you doing anything to stop it. It creates a permission. What are the taxpayers kicking in on each of these things?

Trump’s pet projects are a recipe for disastrous waste. The billions being thrown at the President’s ego-driven boondoggles could be spent on bringing down costs for housing, health care, education, & more.

@SenPeterWelch Presidential pardons are beyond review. If we’re gonna start doing this, I'd love to hear about Biden’s pardons of his family for crimes that haven’t even been charged.

@TheJFreakinC What has happened? When did it become wise to get close to cops while they deal with someone else. Film? Sure. But you don’t get close unless you want cops to treat you as a threat.

🚨BREAKING: An ICE agent just assaulted a TEENAGER in St. Charles, IL. In the video, ICE agents are seen running to their car while trying to cover their faces from U.S. citizens filming them in a parking lot. A teenager is calmly filming them, exercising his First Amendment right to record federal agents in public… when one of the agents suddenly shoves him into a car for absolutely no reason. The teenager immediately backs away. But instead of getting into the car, like the agent was originally about to do, he walks PAST his own car door, TOWARD the teenager, points his finger at him, and starts threatening him while the teen continues filming. The agent keeps screaming at the teenager to “get out of the way”… Except the teenager is literally standing BEHIND the vehicle, not blocking anything whatsoever. Then, while the agent himself is the one aggressively moving toward the teenager, he points his finger inches from the teen’s phone and says, “Do not step closer.” The teenager calmly responds, “I’m not in your way.” Because he wasn’t. Federal agents do not get to shove people because they’re uncomfortable being filmed. And contrary to what ICE seems to believe lately, the Constitution does not disappear the second they step in public. The agent violated the teenager’s First Amendment rights, by retaliating against him for filming law enforcement in public… something courts have repeatedly ruled is constitutionally protected. And the physical shove could also constitute unlawful battery and excessive force under color of law, because officers cannot legally use force against someone who is not threatening them, resisting, or obstructing anything. This teenager wasn’t attacking anyone, wasn’t blocking anyone, and he wasn’t resisting anything. He was filming. That’s it. ICE agents are now openly assaulting and trying to intimidate teenagers for recording them in public… and everyone should not be okay with that.

🚨BREAKING: ICE agents in Brentwood, New York were caught, on a security camera, walking through a backyard where CHILDREN live… with their guns already drawn. In the video, one agent walks directly up to the back door holding a gun, knocks, and yells “POLICE.” Another agent is standing nearby with his weapon pointed directly at the door. Then another agent walks towards the house, from the backyard, after appearing to be looking around the private property. At no point do they announce a warrant, or claim there is an emergency situation. Just federal agents with guns drawn… surrounding a home where kids live. Federal agents are NOT allowed to just enter private property, surround homes, and intimidate families without judicial authorization. A warrant is supposed to be signed by a judge, specifically describe the place being searched, and be presented when demanded. And unless there is an immediate threat to life or public safety, pointing guns at a residence during a nonviolent immigration operation can very quickly cross into excessive force territory under the Constitution. This is exactly why constitutional protections exist in the first place. Because if the government can creep through backyards with guns drawn, targeting homes without presenting warrants, while children are inside… then those rights stop meaning anything at all.

@SenAdamSchiff Someone from federal government unlawfully exposed Trump’s tax returns. That’s actionable. Tell me, Senator: if the IRS leaked your tax returns to the media, what would you do? Someone has to create deterrence to this type of malfeasance.

Kat Timpf
Kat Timpf@KatTimpf·
My seemingly healthy, strong father Daniel “Dad Timpf” Timpf died very unexpectedly on the evening of May 7 at just 69 years old.   It does not seem like enough to simply call him my father, because he was so much more than that. He was my rock, my hero and my best friend. He was loyal, funny, kind, selfless, hard-working, and so devoted to his children that it was impossible to be near him and not find yourself inspired. He was a writer, a painter, a sailor, and somehow knowledgeable on every subject from world history to literature to accounting. He was the most dependable person anyone has ever met. I always felt like, as long as I had his phone number, there was not a problem I could not solve. I needed him here with me; I am not okay, and I am far from the only person who feels this.   The birth of my son in February 2025, his first grandchild, was supposed to be a happy new beginning for our family. A family that had been already once devastated by an untimely loss: the loss of my mother Anne Marie to a rare disease in 2014 just a matter of weeks after her diagnosis.   The joy of my son’s birth was, of course, complicated by my also very unexpected breast cancer diagnosis just a matter of hours before going into labor with him. During this time, my dad did what he did best, which was to save the day. As soon as he heard about my diagnosis, he simply got into the car and started driving to New York -- making it through the tunnel just as my  son was born…on the day that happened to be his own birthday, as well.   In the tumultuous time of a simultaneous new cancer diagnosis and new baby, my dad was the sole reason for our stability, rushing in to help care for our son, and returning to do so again for my double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and any time that we ever needed him. It was an awful, awful year… but I found so much joy and hope throughout it by watching the beauty of a very special relationship form between my son and my father. This horrible thing that was happening was creating such a very special bond between the two of them -- almost making the terrible thing worth it -- and I was so excited to see how that bond would grow.   The bond was of top priority for my father, who visited from Michigan often. I saw him last on the Monday before he died, and my son was so proud to help his grandfather push his suitcase down to the car as he left. The goodbyes were quick. Why wouldn’t they be? We would all see each other again at the beginning of June, when we would all head to Texas for my shows and to see my grandpa. We wanted to make sure that my son could spend as much time as he could with his great-grandfather. He is, after all, 93.   I was certainly not over the trauma of my cancer or having to amputate the breasts I so badly wanted to feed my son with, but the one thing I could always count on to get me through my worst moments was seeing my son’s and my father’s faces light up when they saw each other, be it during the visits or our routine morning and bedtime FaceTime calls.   That is, at least, until I had to hear over the phone from a doctor I had never met in an emergency room in the same town up north that I’d previously announced to my father that I was pregnant that my dad was dead; I would never see him again, and neither would my son. It would turn out that last year was not the hard one, after all. Rather, it was the one I would now do anything to relive. I would amputate my breasts every year just to be able to speak with him one more time, even for five minutes.   I am currently living an unimaginable horror. For many people, this is a tragic story. For me, it’s my life. I do not know how I will recover from it. I only know that I have to for the sake of what is left of my family.

@PramilaJayapal Your phone obviously stops ringing because you’re making multiple posts here. If the immigrants are in fear & here legally, your job is to tell them that they're going to be just fine. Here illegally & afraid of deportation is by their own hand.

My phone doesn’t stop ringing. Constituents. Organizers. Families who woke up this morning not knowing if their loved ones are coming home. This is the reality Trump has built. An America where immigrants live in fear every single day. I’ve spent my whole career fighting for the dignity of immigrant communities. I’m not stopping now.

@BernieSanders Tax incentives for multi-unit dwellings & make it easier to evict deadbeat tenants. Get the permits done in months instead of years. The Bureau of Land Management owns more than 40% of the land. Sell it cheap. Sell a bunch of it. Increase supply to lower the price.

In the richest country on earth, young people shouldn't have to wait until age 40 to buy a home - 12 years after first-time buyers in 1991. Young people shouldn't have to fear a lower standard of living than their parents. We need an economy that works for all, not just the 1%.

@PramilaJayapal In regards to illegal immigrants, I doubt they tried to end Medicaid. There is no Medicaid funding at the federal level for illegal aliens. This is not new; it's decades of fraud. Any Medicaid benefits paid to illegal immigrants are up to the states to fund.

At the same time, California's next Governor can bring down costs through smart tax and housing policies.
