PRESIDENT TRUMP: The United States and the Hellenic Republic have stood side by side as two proud and thriving nations upholding the Western traditions born in Greece more than 2,000 years ago.
March 25th is celebrated as the Day of Greek Independence. Today, we commemorate the wisdom and resolve of the Greek people.
Proud to be Greek, always. 🇬🇷
Today we celebrate Greek Independence Day & honor the enduring legacy of freedom and democracy that Greece has given the world. The United States stands with our allies Greece and Cyprus and, as a proud Greek-American, I will continue to work to strengthen our critical partnership and uphold the principles of liberty that this day represents. Ζήτω η Ελλάδα! 🇺🇸 🇬🇷
Today, the Greeks are celebrating the start of the “War of Greek Independence in 1821” that kicked Islam and the barbarians out of Greece and destroyed their mosques.
For me, however, the war is not over. I will celebrate when the Greeks of Cyprus are liberated and reclaim their homes that the Turks stole from them 52 years ago, when the Greeks of Pontus reclaim theirs that lost 100 years ago, as do the Greeks of Asia Minor and the Greeks of Northern Epirus. I will celebrate when Greeks that got expelled from Constantinople 70 years ago return to their City as a Greek city again.
Greece will be truly free only when our enemies are defeated and peace returns to our home and to our souls.
Long live Greece. Victory or Death.
In 1821, under the rallying cry of “Freedom or Death,” Greeks forged their path to independence. Two centuries later, the relationship between our two great nations, rooted in faith, freedom, and love of country, is vibrant and expanding. I extend my best wishes to all Greeks for a happy and prosperous Independence Day and look forward to what we will achieve together in the year to come.

On this 205th Greek Independence Day, we celebrate that enduring spirit, which first stirred in Athens and inspired our Founding Fathers in Philadelphia, whose genius and devotion to the cause of human freedom will never cease to inspire people on both sides of the Atlantic.
.@POTUS in his annual Greek Independence Day proclamation, emphasized Greece’s role as a close ally, saying it “stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States” in defending shared Western ideals and promoting peace, while praising the Greek-American community and reaffirming the two nations’ shared commitment to democratic values.
