🌍 Europe’s best-selling car outsmarted by hybrid-powered rival 🌍
Green NCAP’s latest results show that the hybrid Citroën C3 outperforms the petrol-powered Dacia Sandero in overall sustainability, highlighting the benefits of electrified powertrains even in the small car segment. The C3 achieved a three-and-a-half-star rating with a score of 62%, compared to the Sandero’s three-star rating at 59%. 🚗
Thanks to its 48-volt mild-hybrid system and low vehicle weight, the C3 delivers improved efficiency and reduced environmental impact, with fuel consumption as low as 4.7 L/100 km in warm weather. Lower weight also helps reduce production impact and lessen tyre abrasion. 🌱
By contrast, the Sandero’s results show that smaller size alone does not guarantee better sustainability. While lightweight, its higher fuel consumption and weaker pollutant control during cold starts limit its overall performance. These findings reinforce the importance of independent testing when comparing vehicles within the same segment. ⚖️
