Announcing 20 live events for accounting firms
Across 20 US cities in May-June
Tickets go on sale today 🙂
We ran 14 live workshops for accounting firms last year and learned:
1/ There's power in connecting local firms
2/ Events are better without slide decks
3/ And a great way to set money on fire
Imagine walking into a room of 100 other accountants plugged into the same thought leadership, same vision, same inside jokes
The vibes are immaculate
If you came out to a workshop last year, do me a huge favor a drop a testimonial in the comments. What did you think of the event?
This year's workshops include:
1️⃣ Two hours of live programming from me
2️⃣ At an amazing venue (no hotel ballrooms)
3️⃣ It's the only event where you earn CPE with a drink in your hand
4️⃣ Plus an optional dinner + dessert where you'll connect with other accounting firms local to you
It's the only accounting firm event designed for your entire TEAM, to get everyone on the same page and have a memorable night out together
I hope to see you there 🙂
PS. If you're joining, drop me a reply so I can connect an avatar picture to a name

@TheCinesthetic Pursuit of Happyness bathroom scene gets me every time to the point I can’t watch it

@taxpreptech @LizMpersonal I had a 147C faxed to me over the phone the other day as well. They specifically wanted the letter listed on the POA though which I had to fax to the rep first before she would help.
English

@LizMpersonal I’ve been able to get a 147C faxed to me from PPL with a POA. Incredible the CP 575 is insufficient.
English

#TaxTwitter I am trying to do something for my firm where they want a “stamped” letter from the IRS with EIN and current address. Gave them a faxed copy but no bueno.
I’m guessing this is only issued as a paper copy in the mail?

@weatherchannel So wind in Denver has an 18% less impact on the golf ball than at Kiawah?? What’s @PhilMickelson take on this??
English

Not a dumb question at all!
Technically, yes, wind at the same speed would be less impactful at higher elevations than at sea level. Because the density of the air is lower, there are fewer molecules to blow against you and create the resistance you feel in heavy winds.
Wind load (the force of wind pushing on an object) is directly proportional to air density, meaning the wind load in Denver (where the density is on average 82% that of sea level) would also be 82% of that at sea level.
However, realistically, any difference would probably be negligible in terms of what your body experiences. So it might be 18% less forceful, but would you really notice?
Still think weather isn't real @hen_ease?

I have a dumb question for meteorologists only. No trolls. Is a 20 mph wind in Denver less impactfull since the air is thinner?

@uptonaccounting RightTool has blown my mind a few times with the useful features. Really need to dedicate more time in the offseason to actually learning about the tools instead of just fumbling into them

Here is a thread of the green contours for every hole at Augusta National.
The slopes are CRAZY!
Bookmark this so you can refer to it while watching The Masters this week.

@taxpreptech @Taxsavvyjessica I didn’t renew it this year because I just never could grasp its uses. What do you all use it for regularly?
English

@Taxsavvyjessica I figured it out...it's = or CTL+E to add detail. But if you start that group count me in. I love TaxTools and use it all the time but I'm sure there's more to learn.
English

@FortWayneCPA @vipcpa How do you actually do this?? I’ve seen it mentioned a few times but can’t find it
English

@vipcpa You can check with the IRS and see how many returns are filed with your EFIN.
English

Everything is slowly breaking.
Earlier today I posted about Lacerte (Intuit) having a technician that was helping us work through something and the tech totally screwed up our system costing us 6 hours where none of us could not use Lacerte and causing 6 hours of work to have to be redone.
Our EFIN got hacked a week and a half ago and we are still working with Lacerte (Intuit) to re-efile three returns that were e-filed with our prior EFIN before we knew it was hacked.

@AppleSupport I upgraded my iPhone 16 Pro Max to iOS 18.2.1 last night and now my Siri is not working at all. I swear I’ve never had a phone as glitchy as this one
English

@shawngorham Breville espresso machine and you’ll never look back. I have the Barista Express. Incredible
English

@AttyIkieSpeaks If they pay her the amount due in a lump sum from prior years then make sure her tax preparer understands the lump-sum election
English

@IraGilligan Saw that on the Facebook group earlier and definitely had to visit the comment section!
English

@taxpreptech I switched from Drake to Lacerte beginning of this year for the same reason
English

@seattle_tax @aletta I have never had anybody approve it the same day and no issues so far. Probably done it 10 times.
English

@___jaimie I have encountered it but ultimately what I did was recreate their books and filed a return using Excel. Literally linked everything together in a workbook with WTB tab, financial transactions they coded, AJEs. Then adjusted QBO to those 12/31 #’s and continued on in the same QBO
