U.S. President Donald Trump's administration created a nearly $1.8 billion fund to compensate victims of political "weaponization" to settle a lawsuit Trump had filed against his own government over the alleged mishandling of his tax records. Democrats and some Republicans have questioned the legality of the fund, as well as a part of the settlement "forever barring" the IRS from auditing past tax claims by Trump, his relatives and his businesses. 🔗 Read more: reut.rs/3RmVfnA ✍️ Dan Rosenzweig-Ziff 📸 Shannon Stapleton, Leah Millis

1. MCAT tests have a substantial correlation with performance in medical school. 2. Performance in medical school has a substantial correlation with various measures of physician competence. 3. Black scores on the MCAT for the last four decades have been substantially lower than white/asian scores. Around an SD or more. 4. Black mean performance as physicians on various measures of competence have been lower than white/Asian performance. None of the first three assertions can be empirically denied. The evidence is too consistent and replicable. The fourth assertion is not only empirically undeniable. It is logically inevitable.
Eric Tait@ericstait

@charlesmurray So Dr. Murray enlighten us on how what he said has bearing on how effective a practicing physician someone will become.

I can’t imagine why this has to be answered again, but here goes. Because there are Islamic scholars who professionally use the library. Muslims pray five times a day on a very strict schedule. They do not just pray sitting down quietly. They have physical gestures to do and words that need to be spoken out loud. The scholars asked if there would be a room that they could go to where they could privately do their thing without interrupting any of the other library patrons. The Vatican said yes, and provided them with a small space.
Luke Myers@LukeMye48429084

@FatherChrisVor1 And why did he put a muslim prayer room in the vatican?

@FatherChrisVor1 @HeywoodFloyd10 @philthemod67 Appreciate the charity perspective but are there any limits to what you think Christian charity should allow, accommodate or accept? There must be, and those require at least a polite refusal at some point.

@grok @BasedMikeLee @grok what would the economic impact be on all parties if tax rates were raised on the top 10 percent of earners to cover the remaining 18 percent of taxes due? What is the income limit to be in the top 10%?

@mshale58 @BishopBarron The pope did that so that they could come experience the Vatican, for the possibility of their conversion. Also do we have to be at war with muslims? Is there really something wrong with peace?

The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

A lot of the conversation around Rory McIlroy's "unfair advantage", especially from golf media, is completely missing the point... There's no reason there shouldn't be a cap on the amount of times golfers can play Augusta the month prior to The Masters, whether they're past champs or not. This ensures there isn't a blatant competitive disparity. Yes, golfers that qualify for the tournament can access the course the month prior, but everyone can't skip three straight tournaments* & fly private whenever they want to Augusta. *Again, this encourages top golfers to skip tournaments, devaluing those tournaments for broadcast partners, patrons, & sponsors. For example, if the cap is 3-4 practice rounds at Augusta the month prior to the tournament, consider them like timeouts. Use them or lose them. Problem solved. Debate over. Past champions still get their well-deserved perks, but they don't get a blatant unfair advantage.

@iam_johnw I looked up Coach Staley's jacket, and it's a $2,300 piece. I guess my point was more that Pitino (and Calipari and Geno and others) wear clothes without their school name on the sidelines and no one says anything or thinks anything about it. I see some of your points though.

@sunnyudeh2003 @ImMeme0 More or less sad than seeing people insult complete strangers because you're mad at another unrelated person? Sad is seeing her behave this way. Her consequences are self-inflicted. Worse is the strong sense that she'll not change a bit as a result.

@ImMeme0 Sad to see people cheering someone losing their career over a heated moment. Accountability matters but so does proportion. If one incident defines you completely, then none of us are safe from being reduced to our worst day.

🚨BREAKING UPDATE: Kaiser Permanente, which employed Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, has removed her information from their database following backlash after she harassed ICE agents at JFK airport. Maybe the unhinged doctor should have taken her own advice: “if you can’t be nice to people, please don’t become a doctor. We don’t need more assh*les.”

🚨BREAKING: Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, an OB‑GYN, educator, and social media influencer with nearly 3 million followers on TikTok, is facing backlash for unprofessional conduct toward ICE agents. While at an airport, she approached two ICE agents and, after a brief exchange, called them “racist pigs,” saying that no matter how she may be perceived, she would “never be like them,” and sarcastically expressing hope that their mothers would be “proud of them.”

@MeganFoxWriter @davepl1968 He’s correct though. Most stations did not broadcast it live. What was seen by most everyone was delayed. The challenger was already destroyed by the time people saw the broadcasts. The exception was if the school arranged to have CNN, some did. They were live.

99.9% of people who "experienced" the Challenger disaster saw it on replay and now remember it as live. Almost NO ONE was watching. Everyone thinks they were. It's a fascinating collective false memory.

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏

Pleading for NATO allies to help us in the Strait of Hormuz when we allegedly have the most powerful navy in human history is perplexing to me. It makes Trump look weak. It makes America look weak. That’s not good.

Dave Burge dropped a TRUTH BOMB that left her STUNNED in silence. When the annoying woman approached him yesterday morning, Dave knew there was about to be trouble - and he was prepared. "It's garbage and recycle day today," she said with that smug look of hers, "it's your turn to take it to the curb." That was all Dave need to spring his an expertly devised TRAP. "What else is it today?" asked Dave, arching an eyebrow. The woman stammered for a second before muttering "your birthday." "And what did you get me for my birthday?" "You told me not to get you anything!" she whined. Dave was just getting STARTED. "And have YOU ever changed your mind?" he deftly ask. The witness was now falling apart on the stand, for she knew Dave has an entire dossier of exhibits of her serial mind-changing. "So I say it's YOUR turn to take out the garbage and recycle," said Dave, "so happy birthday to ME." BOOM. Then, as the annoying woman shuffled in defeat to perform her chores, Dave administered the COUP de GRACE. "Oh, by the way," Dave called to her, "Look at your dumb chores calendar. It'll be your turn again next Tuesday."

Thoughts on the Song “Jesse’s Girl” 1. It’s the kind of catchy pop rock song they don’t make anymore; I expect kids would be baffled by it 2. By rhyming “cute” with “moot,” it enters the stratosphere 3. For years, I thought Rock Springfield was singing that he wishes he WAS Jesse’s girl.
