@billoram Either these rumors are BS, or maybe he figured out that head coaches are wildly overpaid and there are better ways to put that $ to use to improve the team. We/he will find out soon enough and then adjust as needed.

Jake Fischer on the Blazers' head coaching position: "The consistent word for weeks about new Blazers owner Tom Dundon is his apparent desire to pay no more than $1.5 million annually for a new head coach. That's well below the current NBA standard ... even for a first-time head coach. "From $1 million to $1.5 million is actually the price range for the league's top assistant coaches, but Portland's desire to spend so modestly on a full-time replacement for Billups has been widely communicated and figures to have a significant impact on the process" Says that the Blazers have held "exploratory dialogue" with roughly 20 international and college coaches; college coaches at the Power 4 level typically make more than $1.5 million salaries

Within the last 2 days we learned that: Fans won’t receive playoff T-shirts for Games 3 & 4 at the Moda Center. Blazers had gear in hotel lobby early to avoid late fee. Dundon is a rich but strict budget owner shown by NHL team. Is this something to be concerned about?

Really illuminating quote from Oregon QB coach Koa Ka’ai about the mental make up they look for in a QB: “I ask them a question like this all the time. ‘Hey do you like chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream?’ The moment a kid pauses, I don’t really want that kid because you need to have some kind of conviction… If you sit there and say, ‘Oh coach, I don’t know’… What is this kid going to do on third down in front of 110,000? He’s probably going to think about it more than he should.”

@pdxbrocialite Raleigh seems to like Dundon and his stewardship of the NHL team there, so I’m willing to give him a chance. Side note - his group is also backing the MLB to Raleigh effort.

Extremely skeptical of the new Blazers owner. Didn’t even have the decency to introduce himself before shaking the city down for money.

@adamstatonsmith @BakesTakes84 Don’t be surprised if AAA returns to Hillsboro (regardless of what happens with MLB2PDX). The new stadium is better than a lot of AAA stadiums and they built it with AAA in mind.

@CascadePolicy How about burying I-5 instead and get rid of the Marquam bridge? It will never happen (too much $ and no political will) but imagine how great both sides of the downtown waterfront would look if they did.

Metro wants to build a MAX tunnel downtown, replace the Steel Bridge & rezone entire neighborhoods — all to prop up a passenger rail system their own data says won't work. Who pays for this vision? Oregon taxpayers. Who benefits? Not clear.

@Jeff_Eager This doesn’t look good but I’ve heard that some of this was from high earners in MultCo who already had 2nd homes in Deschutes County and “relocated” to avoid the new city/metro taxes. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, but it’s different compared to, say, fleeing to Tennessee.

As I have said all along, as long as the area pays the ransom, in the form of picking up the tab for the renovations, they aren't going anywhere. And it appears the state, city and county are going to do that.

@CHold @Dame_Lillard To me Vialva plays more like a young CJ McCollum, the kid can always create a good shot for himself and make it. Lake plays more like Dame (incredible range and scoring ability). Great game regardless!
