@Guernseyplodder @RossLeBrun It is interesting. I wonder what other laws are in the same position. It seems like this particular law needs scraping, amending or enforcing.

@RossLeBrun Interesting take by Guernsey Police, didn’t realise it was up to them which laws to enforce.

Could insurance companies take states of Guernsey to court to recover costs for their policy of allowing drivers in heavy cars to break the law and speed and all the claims they’ve had to pay out for on the resulting damage? Are insurance companies aware of this liability?

@ViaerFou In the sense that the virus suddenly appeared. H5N1 has been tracked for years through bird and some mammal populations, with known infections in humans.

@Gsy_Bell Out of interest in what way entirely novel , to be an unknown unknown ? I thought such coronavirus type events had been predicted especially if capability developed to transmit from animals to Humans. Possibly semantics but thought such possibility was on the radar

Almost everyday I hear on radio 4 how lockdown has caused this bad outcome and this bad outcome. Today it was about a number of children in the UK needing urgent mental health assistance which has grown significantly since the COVID lockdown and in some cases is being put down to a lack of community interaction at a significantly important time in a child's life

If everyone stood 2m back from the baggage carrousel, then everyone would be able to see their bags and grab them with no issue. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

@RossLeBrun We walked down that way bit too long ago. Pavements just start and stop. You are fine until cars come towards you from opposite directions at once....

Young lad walking to school on a road with no pavement hit and put in an ambulance because we don’t want to upset drivers by making roads one way…

So many pedestrians getting hit by cars in Guernsey and we still want to leave roads 2 way so we don’t inconvenience drivers Pedestrians being regularly hit is ok though

@neilcybart Yes, I'm currently writing a novel about that very concept. In the story, we send a ship to a distant planet with the crew in stasis. However, upon arrival, they discover that technology has advanced so rapidly that others have already beaten them to the planet.

Ever think about what the world would be like in 200-300 years and how we (1900-2100) would be perceived?

@Gsy_Bell @gsyblue True at Malo traffic was horrible last time we went. But we were in Bayeux by 8pm having stopped for a quick McDonald break. I always find the choice of hotels in St Malo limited and over priced.

@jviddy @gsyblue But with the boarder checks and our recent loading luck, leaving the port by 5.30 was lucky. Straight into rush hour traffic 🤷🏻‍♂️. So dinner in St Malo, might as well stay.

@Gsy_Bell @gsyblue Arriving at 4.30pm (last summer) and with younger kids we were happy to get a couple of hours driving in before stopping for the night. On the way back a midday boat meant we stayed near Rennes. Not ideal but still a bit more flexibility.

@gsyblue UK is definitly better than it was but France is dreadful. You need a night in st Malo both ways for most trips.

@simondale11 @autismadhdmicro Wood henge is a good shout. You can then follow footpaths and walk over to stone henge. You don't get as close, but you also don't have to pay 👍

It has just dawned on me that the reason everyone finds me so random is that I just make statements because I start a conversation or interject halfway through the conversation I’ve started in my head 😂 apparently this is also #ADHD related.

@Gsy_Girl @RossLeBrun @BBCGuernsey Our kids cycle. We are fortunate to have lanes that run most of the way to school. It doesn't necessarily need infrastructure but a change of driver attitude.

I used to cycle to school when I was 11.. I’d NEVER let my child cycle now, not with the amount of traffic on the roads, nearly zero cycle lanes, and even though the majority of motorists are good, there’s always a minority that are absolute idiots and have zero tolerance for cyclists… My dad (cycled for Velo club and for Commonwealth Games) he was a considerate cyclist, he’d get sooo much grief from cars, delivery drivers etc… unless they build designated cycle lanes, this will never improve..

I If anyone is trying to compare the traffic volumes we have today with that of 30 or 40 years ago when they used to cycle to school they are either naive or think we are The traffic volumes today is why the road outside the school needs to close @BBCGuernsey
