@rage14539 @DamienPetersNBA Ausar Thompson is an amazing defender, it's just he's unlucky playing in the same era with Wemby. But i am sure he will get the award at least once, voters will be tired with Wemby winning it year after year.

@DamienPetersNBA We have to understand how difficult it is to be a big man in this era: endless pick & roll, communicating defense as a back line, rim protection & rim deterent. What wemby is doing is historical, you see minny & portland dont want to go inside, no perimeter def can do that.

I think the NBA should have a “Perimeter Defensive Player of the Year” award and a traditional defensive player of the year award. The award has long been dominated by big men, but no one can sit there and tell me the way Ausar Thompson plays defense isn’t equally impactful. The delineation would highlight that there are very different skillsets within defense itself which is accurate. Defending has never been more difficult than it is in the modern NBA and I wouldn’t mind if we formally acknowledged that come award time.
