Job done. Not great from Arsenal, but far better than Saturday (that wasn’t hard). Great to see Zubimendi play well, best player on the pitch. Eze was bright before understandably tiring. Defensively largely solid, Hincapie impressive on his return to the XI. That staring front three is a big problem though. It just does not work. Arteta simply can’t go with that again on Sunday. The City pressure will just be incessant due to their inability to hold onto the ball.

Arteta: There is a reason why we are the only English team in this competition. This schedule takes the hell out of you.

Havertz now has a good 30+ mins to get into the groove at centre-forward, with Eze behind him. Surely that's the attacking duo Arteta has in mind for the City game. He can't persist with Gyokeres in a match of such importance.

Didn’t ever stop to think about the impact that all the hype and theatre before every game would have on our players. Arteta’s call to arms, box office compilations for every fixture. Does it make players stress unnecessarily? Should Bournemouth have been a “routine” fixture?

It is now very obvious that Carlos Cuesta leaving Arsenal has massively affected our attacking play. He was never really replaced. Heinze is not an attacking coach.

Injuries obviously forced his hand, but think Arteta got the lineup and subs wrong. All the runners starting, then panicked with the subs too early and took all the runners off at once. Just doesn’t make sense. Understand not starting Max, but start Leo and keep Nelli for the bench. Ultimately though the problems are the same whoever you start: - Neither LW is top level / starter quality. - White and Jesus physically cooked. - Zubi fatigued / in poor form, Nørgaard clearly not considered suitable competition - Kai, Saka, Øde all not fully recovered from big injuries. Lots of creativity missing. - Because of Kai and Jesus physical condition we have to rely solely on Viktor, who has his limitations. Unfortunately basically none of this can be fixed till the summer. For now we just have to pray for Saka, Øde, Timber, Calafiori, Eze coming back strong. Only internal solutions I can think of is Eze LW when Øde is back, Myles in midfield when Ricky is back. Don’t be surprised when this title race goes down to the wire, I can’t see either team going flawless from here either, regardless of what happens at the Etihad, there are still banana skins even after.
