Last year’s mid-air collision over DCA was a horrible tragedy that took the lives of 67 people. This week, I joined my fellow @HASCRepublicans in passing the ALERT Act out of committee, legislation that honors the victims and their families by delivering significant aviation safety reforms to make our country’s airspace safer without compromising our national security.

The T&I Committee unanimously approved the ALERT Act.

HAPPENING NOW: Full committee markup of H.R. 7613 — The ALERT Act. The ALERT Act was developed to address all 50 National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recommendations in response to the fatal 2025 midair collision near Reagan National Airport involving a civilian aircraft and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. Chairman @RepMikeRogersAL said, "Improving aviation safety and protecting our national security are not mutually exclusive. By taking our time and following regular order, we have produced a bill that does both. I thank the NTSB and the Pentagon for working with us throughout this process."
