I recently lost a nephew, Collins Ankunda(RIP) in a road accident on Masaka-Mbarara Rd. His body was evacuated to Mbarara Referral Hospital. We couldn't trace him at first, but later did after 6 days. That's another story of POLICE CORRUPTION. By that time, his body was 10 times its usual size, and decomposing because the Hospital Mortuary has no operating power, etc. DOCTORS WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND DID WHATEVER THEY COULD to make it bearable for us to transport the body for burial. We thank them! Now Dr Warren Namara👇 spells it out for us. Thank you Dr. Mbarara Hospital built in 1930 hasn't had any meaningful expansion since then. Formerly a Nursing School and small Health Centre had 240 beds. Yes, in 1953, was expanded to 550 beds to be a Distinct Hospital. There has been no expansion since then. At the time, it was designed to Serve a population of 500,000 people. That population has since grown to million! And being on the main TRANS-NATIONAL ROUTE(Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi,DRC), it has to cater for all the emergency cases, etc. DR Namara further explains; the Hospital's budget of Shs 53bn for DRUGS, only Shs 3.5bn is released by Finance.....Woow! Plus other things as the Dr spells out...... The rest, I shall keep to myself!

Did you know? Every carton, ampoule, strip and vial supplied by NMS is clearly marked: "Government of Uganda – For Public Use Only Not for Sale." This helps deter theft and illegal sale of public medicines, while strengthening accountability across the health supply chain. 👀 If you come across Government medicines being sold, report the matter to @PoliceUg or the State House Health Monitoring Unit @HMUStateHouse Together, let's protect public medicines. They belong to all of us. #NMSDelivers
