15th meeting of Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee under the chairmanship of Sri Sanjay Seth, Hon'ble Raksha Rajya Mantri and Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, #CISC as Vice Chairman was held at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi today. A seminar on Indian Strategic Culture: Past, Present & Future was conducted at #DSSC for Student Officers of the 82nd Staff Course. An MoU was exchanged between the Commandant, DSSC and Prof Amitabh Mattoo, appointing him as Distinguished Chair on Indian Strategic Culture, further strengthening DSSC’s focus on the study of India’s strategic thought and heritage. The seminar featured Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Dr Arvind Gupta (Director, VIF & Former Deputy NSA), Amb D.B. Venkatesh Varma (Retd), Former Ambassador to Russia & Member, NSAB, and Prof Archna Negi, SIS, JNU. Discussions examined the influence of India’s civilizational ethos, strategic traditions and diplomatic experience on contemporary national security and foreign policy. The deliberations highlighted the relevance of historical perspectives in understanding present-day geopolitical and security challenges. Continued impetus to augmentation of sports infrastructure and scientific injury management at National Defence Academy #NDA, through the commissioning of two synthetic tennis courts and 'Aarogyam' Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy Centre at Military Hospital, Khadakwasla. General NS Raja Subramani, Chief of Defence Staff, undertook his maiden visit to the Western Naval Command @IN_WNC to review operational preparedness and maritime security initiatives. During the visit, he held detailed discussions with VAdm Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command and other senior officers, on operational readiness, capability development, and emerging security challenges. The CDS also visited several formations and units under @IN_WNC, gaining first-hand insights into frontline operational capabilities. In keeping with the endeavour to constantly upgrade training aids and methodology, a #Drone Training Lab was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Anil Jaggi, Commandant, National Defence Academy #NDA at the Army Training Team. College of Defence Management #CDM_IDS conducted a Panel Discussion on the ongoing West Asia crisis for participants of #HDMC22. The discussion featured distinguished experts Dr Deepika Saraswat, Prof Srikanth Kondapalli, Col Rajiv Agarwal (Retd) and Brig Jai Singh Bhatti, VSM, who shared diverse perspectives on strategic realignments in West Asia, China's evolving strategic calculus, lessons in conflict, deterrence and diplomacy, and the broader military implications of the ongoing crisis. The deliberations examined the strategic implications of the US–Israel–Iran conflict for regional and global security, with particular focus on India's energy security, maritime interests, strategic autonomy and national security. In a landmark development in the history of the Indian Defence Forces, the first batch of women cadets trained at the National Defence Academy #NDA has been commissioned as officers, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of women’s participation in military service. The pioneering batch of 17 women cadets, who joined the NDA in August 2022 as part of the 148th Course, successfully completed their rigorous pre-commission training at their respective Service academies. With their commissioning, these officers have joined the fraternity of military leaders entrusted with the responsibility of serving the nation. In the Indian Army, nine officers were commissioned during the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, on 13 June 2026. The parade was reviewed by the Hon’ble President of India. In the Indian Navy, three officers were commissioned during the Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, on 28 May 2026. The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command. In the Indian Air Force, five officers were commissioned during the Combined Graduation Parade of the 217th Course at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, Hyderabad, on 13 June 2026. The parade was reviewed by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri. The commissioning of these officers marks a defining chapter in the transformation of the Indian Defence Forces and reflects the nation’s commitment to equal opportunity, merit and excellence in military service.
