@JimSamuel217043 You completely miss the point. The point is $25 - 30k should buy you a good new car. Not used. What's next? Well you can buy an e-bike for $25k used. It will get you from point A to point B. Just deal with it.

@HTWingNut You don't need to buy a new car for $50K. You can get a good, three-year-old Subaru, Honda or Toyota for well under $25K. Sure, it might be a Corolla or Impreza but it can get will get from point A to point B just as well.

@indexnforgetit That's assuming everyone is actually paying and budgeting $28/day for lunch. They're not. So it's not money they have to save. I could pretend that instead of spending $5000/day to fly a helicopter to work, I could drive and save $1M a year. Imagine the savings!

@JimSamuel217043 The entire point is cost of goods is much higher than decades ago, well above inflationary levels, and well above the average increase in pay rate. You could buy a good new car for $15k 25 years ago, now it's $50k . Used cars follow same trend as do other big purchase items

@CarolinaLion2 FYI ... No one making $70K has to buy a $50K car. They can buy a good, recent used car for $20K. They don't have to buy a big house. They can start with an 800- 1,000 sq. foot house.

@RealBrittHughes So everyone is getting poodle daycare and think 2400 sq ft home is too small? Sounds like a handful of yuppies and not people working two jobs just to keep the lights on and food on the table. What a load of crap.

Everyone is slamming this video but the NYT published an article just last month about young couples who aren’t having kids because they think a 2,400 sq ft house is too small, their overseas travel costs would increase, and they already pay $600 a month for poodle daycare. Sure, stuff costs more these days, but insane living standards and overconsumption is a huge part of the problem for young adults.

@PatrickDFarley When people making "average" income are struggling to get by, yes it's a problem. Pretending like everyone is eating $30 lunches daily is also stupid. They're not. O'Leary is talking out of his ass as usual.

@StephenKentX You're assuming everyone is eating $28 lunches daily. They are not. That is not the issue. It's deflecting from the actual problem. People are already living paycheck to paycheck eating ramen and PB&J working "regular" jobs. That's the problem.

@BlackLabelAdvsr $4.25. But that's equivalent to about $18 in today's dollars. But you can't even use that as a basis. Everything else is more expensive. Times are different.

My first job paid me $6.25/hour. And I appreciated every cent I made. When I see the wages Target and Costco pays I smile. Gen Z has no idea how good they have it. What did you get paid at your first job?

@1atheistcat Same, Gen X here, teen kids, I'm struggling. I did all the "right" things but a couple significant life events set me back to near zero at almost 50. I can't work two jobs anymore. I even have a technical degree with lots of engineering experience. But ageism is a thing too.

@astrocryptoddy @CryptoMikli I’m Gen X (over 50) and I don’t think that at all. Inflation is out of control, finding a job is nearly impossible, and affordability a daily difficulty. Some of us get it. I help out my adult kids every way I can. We’re not all assholes, just this guy.

@the_satellite23 LOL. I mean if you want to die young. I skip breakfast and lunch (usually) and have a nice dinner. Steak/chicken/salmon/crab, rice/potato, broccoli/green beans, and a beer or glass of whiskey or wine or three. $10-12/day. My kids on the other hand, well that's a different story

@PatrickWCutler So of the 3 people you know, none of the died of COVID? Wow, what amazing evidence!. Of the 1 million that died in the US population of about 360M, that's 0.2% or 2 in 1000 people. My niece became an RN in 2020 and it was the worse time of her life. Fuck off with your ignorance.

This is a plane that struck a bird. You're not going to convince me that airplanes flew through the world's 2 strongest buildings on 9/11 and caused them to collapse. Thermite was found o the beams in the WTC wreckage. Explosives is most definitely what caused those towers to collapse in my opinion.

@yzrider53 "Well AKSHUALLY..." LOL. That only works if everyone is abiding by it, driving at same distance, going same speed, and paying attention. If nobody is doing it, it doesn't work. Duh. Otherwise merge at the first opportunity like everyone else. It's common sense and courtesy.

This guy is using the left hand lane , which is open. There is a mile long backup and everyone is over in the right hand lane. He drives all the way up until he has to merge. Some people are saying what a jerk he is for not getting in line like everyone else, but a great many people are saying that the cars in the right lane merged into one lane too soon and that if they had used the left lane, instead of being a mile backup it would have been a half a mile backup. What’s your take? Do you think he was correct in using the left lane and merging up at the front or should he have merged right and got in line way in the back like everyone else?

@Finney_Blackk Not the same. Two separate lines for separate checkouts. If there were two lines for the same checkout with people already there, sure you alternate. But if everyone is standing in a single line and you try to bypass by cutting, you're just being an entitled douchebag.

@HTWingNut @BadAss6360 Do you get in the long line at the grocery store or do you go to the open register with no line? It’s called a zipper merge. Traffic would not be backed up nearly as bad if people knew the traffic rules.

@GrahamM67 Clearly you can't function in society. If everyone was following the zipper rule, then sure. That's what it's designed to do. But if nobody is doing the zipper rule, it's not helping. Merge at the first opportunity. Not hard to figure out. Stop being a narcissitic douchebag

@HTWingNut @BadAss6360 It’s not cutting in line. Both lanes are open and designed to be used up until the merge. Then zipper merge. Left, right, left, right and the traffic continues to flow as DOT designed it to work.

@MrPoon77 Zipper only works in an ideal scenario. perfectly paced cars with proper spacing. It's unrealistic. If everyone was doing it, then fine. But if you're the only one, you're an entitled asshole.
