Just had my third 'contact lenses lesson'. I finally managed to get a lens in each eye after much effort, though getting them out was hard. Still not good enough for them to let me buy the lenses. Did anyone else out there find it this hard!

@HVberrill @AcademicHV @TheQNI @Alison_Morton2 Workforce stats for HVs only count HVs employed in health visiting roles (NHS & Independent workforce datasets). If you’ve moved into a different field you won’t be counted. Nos of HVs on @nmcnews register is ++higher. SNs are harder to count as SCPHN & nonSCPHN often conflated

You may have seen healthcare staff in the UK wearing this yellow badge with their name on it. But do you know the story behind this? Dr Kate Granger MB was an NHS doctor who was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. During a hospital stay in August 2013 with post-operative sepsis, she made the stark observation that many staff looking after her did not introduce themselves before delivering care. It felt incredibly wrong that such a basic step in communication was missing. She decided to start a campaign, primarily using social media initially, to encourage and remind healthcare staff about the importance of introductions in healthcare. Introductions are about making a human connection between one human being who is suffering and vulnerable and another human being who wishes to help. Dr. Kate Granger passed away in 2016, but the message she left is still going strong. Remember, this isn't about wearing a yellow badge. This is to remind ourselves the importance of introductions & developing therapeutic relationships with our patients. More information is in the link below. hellomynameis.org.uk

It might feel extra hard to reach out for help today because it’s Christmas. But please know you don’t have to face anything alone. If you’re having a hard time, we’ll face it with you. We’re here all day and night 💚
