So many "traditional Catholics" are apparently unaware of the Catholic tradition that priests should not carry weapons or even go hunting (the 1917 Code allowed exceptions only in cases of necessity). This goes back to the early Church and was taught explicitly by Aquinas.

People forget that V2 was in response to a world that just escaped a whirlwind of death in a world war. It was a total meltdown of culture, and an imposition of liberalism and communism across the world - not to mention the degradation of our nations in the 60s and 70s To say V2 is the cause of decline is silly for the reasons in the post below, but also because of these cataclysmic reasons. If anything, in my opinion, V2 was what stopped vibrant, active, and influential Catholicism from falling off a cliff in the coming decades. Most of this becomes a game of “what if” at a certain point, but it holds stronger than the position that is critical of V2

I had no caffeine until 20 years old when I tried my first pre workout. The original Jack3d. It was like I was injected with super powers. I took it for offseason college soccer to work out because I saw roided bodybuilders did it. Plus all the baseball guys took it. I took it thinking that my performance in the weight room will increase even more which will give me an edge. I have been chasing that high for 14 years. A crippling caffeine addiction for that time. I took a few months off here and there, but always ended up back on caffeine. Oh busy season at work with 12 hour days on my feet? Back on caffeine. I finally quit for good recently. The addiction initially prevents you from realizing how negatively it effects you. The cravings for that little high from the adrenaline hit and dopamine unchaining don't mean that you don't "feel as good" when you're not on caffeine. You're still clinging onto that initial feeling as if that's how you feel on caffeine. You don't. It's a mental mirage. It's a drug. The most sought after legal drug in the world, closing in on a $500 billion dollar industry. People cannot go about their day without it and somehow that's "normal." Then you get off of it, deal with the withdrawal, deal with your brain and body adjusting to your new life without that drug, and suddenly you start feeling....NORMAL. Your baseline is calm and collected. You sleep way better. You function better. You don't crash throughout the day. You don't function with a need for a drug to get through the day and feel "joy." I ain't touching the stuff ever again.
