To squat is but a posture, for only those who've squatted know the sheer delight of rising tall.

Yesterday, I was attacked in the NYC subway. At 5:50 pm on February 14th, while performing at 34th St Herald Square station, a woman wearing a mustard jacket, red scarf, and gloves assaulted me by smashing the back of my head with my metal water bottle.

@mohebial Try play with grounding. I think it may the transistor. If not grounded properly, it generates big sink current. Not sure if it helped me when I tried it. Don't remember if I decided toss all licking period data.

Random specific question. I'm using a capacitive touch sensor (MPR121) for lick detection in head-fixed mice. Sometimes when the mouse licks on the spout, I get weird electrical artifacts on my npx probe recordings. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Thoughts?

Check out this almost unbelievable time-lapse of wildfire smoke consuming the World Trade Center and the New York City skyline. Those vulnerable to poor air quality, including seniors and young children, should limit time outdoors if possible. More: AirNow.gov

There are disturbing parallels between the way Chinese scientists are being treated today and the way Japanese-Americans were treated during WWII. Let’s learn from history, not repeat it. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

A lot of folks are building semantic search engines on top of pre-trained word embeddings. Fine-tuning pre-existing embeddings can be finicky. A simple trick is to learn a matrix that multiplies the pretrained embeddings: inflate some dims, collapse others github.com/openai/openai-…

Possibly unpopular opinion: most science grad programs aren't set up to train students for non-academic paths. We should have more training programs for students who are interested in science but ultimately don't want to become scientists (in the sense of running their own labs).

By incorporating these different methods into a single experimental paradigm, we can gain a more comprehensive understanding of how dopamine modulates motivated behavior through its interactions with specific neural circuits and the mechanisms by which these interactions occur.

Question to chatGPT: you are a systems neuroscienctist. you are an expert in dopamine field. please define the next important question to be studied in the field. Then, design a set of experiments in mice to study the raised question.
