I find it inconsistent with their mission that they've been trying for years to find a way around BDS to publish Sally Rooney. I might find a thin thread of understanding if Sally's books were about national liberation struggles, anti-colonialism, Palestinian indigeneity, or regional history, as one could argue that such books would be useful to the group's mission. But that's not the case here. Also, crucially, it seems they're publishing it in collaboration with an Israeli publishing house, which they're calling "independent." Independent from what? I assume they pay taxes to the zionist colony, right? that they, like all Israelis, serve in the zionist colonial military, right? and their children too, right? so they're not really "independent," are they? every time we think an Israeli or Jewish group might truly be anti-zionist, they go and prove us wrong.
