@VBierschwale @SaraGonzalesTX Our 58yrs old student worker F1 from India, very nice lady, just told me: her son, a recent grad, is doing 2nd-yr OPT in Frisco, for FREE. i have been anti-h1b since 1998, first time heard that. How can our kids compete with someone willing working for free? @StephenM

Not enough attention is being paid to the total of work visas issued each year, and the media, and even @SaraGonzalesTX only focus on the H-1B. --- A little food for thought --- Let me go through every category in the table. I'll organize them into clear buckets. ✅ FULL WORK AUTHORIZATION Code Description Notes H1B Specialty occupation (the "tech worker" visa) Core work visa H1B1 Free Trade Agreement Professional (Chile/Singapore) Same as H1B functionally H2A Temporary agricultural worker Core work visa H2B Temporary non-agricultural worker Core work visa H3 Trainee Work-authorized during training L1 Intracompany transferee Executive/managerial/specialized O1 Extraordinary ability (sciences, art, business, athletics) Work authorized O2 Support personnel for O1 Work authorized P1 Internationally recognized athlete or entertainment group Work authorized P2 Artist/entertainer in reciprocal exchange Work authorized P3 Artist/entertainer in culturally unique program Work authorized TN USMCA professional (Canada/Mexico) Work authorized E1 Treaty trader Work authorized E2 Treaty investor Work authorized E3 Australian specialty occupation Work authorized E3R Returning Australian specialty occupation Same as E3 CW1 CNMI transitional worker Work authorized R1 Religious occupation Work authorized Q1 International Cultural Exchange Work authorized I Foreign media representative Work authorized ⚠️ PARTIAL / CONDITIONAL WORK AUTHORIZATION Code Description Notes J1 Exchange visitor Complicated — includes au pairs, interns, trainees, researchers, professors. Some are work-authorized, some aren't. This is a big number (~322K in 2024) and deserves its own treatment A1/A2 Foreign government officials Not work-authorized in the traditional sense, but they are "working" — just in diplomatic roles. Probably exclude G1-G4 International organization employees Same situation as A — they work but not in the US labor market H4 Spouse of H1B Only work-authorized if the H1B holder has an approved I-140 — this is a policy that has been debated. Large number (~139K in 2024) L2 Spouse of L1 Automatically work-authorized since a 2021 court settlement — this is significant and often overlooked E3D Spouse of Australian specialty occupation Work-authorized TD Spouse/child of TN Generally not work-authorized unless they independently qualify ❌ NOT WORK AUTHORIZED — EXCLUDE Code Description B1 Business visitor — cannot work for US employer B2 Tourist B1/B2 Tourist/business combo — the massive category B1/B2/BCC Border Crossing Card — tourism/shopping B1/B2/BCV Same, Lincoln Foil version C1 Transit only C1/D Transit/crew C2 Transit to UN HQ C3 Government official in transit D Crew member (ship/aircraft) F1 Student — cannot work off-campus without OPT/CPT authorization F2 Spouse of student — not work-authorized M1 Vocational student — limited work authorization K1 Fiancé(e) — not work-authorized until marriage + adjustment K2/K3/K4 Family of K1 — same NATO 1-7 NATO personnel — not in US labor market T1-T6 Trafficking victims — humanitarian, some limited authorization U1-U5 Crime victims — humanitarian S5/S6/S7 Informants N8/N9 Special immigrant parents/children The bottom line on the numbers: In 2024, the grand total is 10,969,936 but the B1/B2 family alone is roughly 8.4 million. Your actual work-authorized visa universe is probably somewhere in the 1.0–1.5 million range depending on how you handle J1 and the spousal categories. Three decisions you need to make before we build: J1 — include all, include partially, or break it out as its own column? The subcategories aren't separated in this table but the State Department does publish a J1 breakdown separately. Spousal work authorization (H4, L2, E3D) — include or exclude? These are real workers entering the labor market and often overlooked in these analyses. Including them actually strengthens your argument. F1 OPT — Optional Practical Training allows students to work 1-3 years post-graduation. It's a huge number (~300K+ annually) and it does not appear in this table at all — it's tracked separately by USCIS. Do you want to add it? How do you want to handle those three?

After peaking around the 2021 cohort, real starting wages have fallen steadily, with the 2025 cohort earning the lowest starting salaries in inflation-adjusted terms. In other words, the entry-level labor market has softened not only in hiring, but also in wage offers. Even graduates who do land jobs are seeing their starting pay fall further behind inflation.

@nypost The jobs are there, grads just pass them by because they think they are entitled to other higher paying jobs because of the degree. It’s the entitlement theory. The concept of working your way up the ladder doesn’t exist for them. Experience is a foreign concept also.

As Florida Governor, I will END the H-1B scam. You will be able to get a job after you graduate without having to compete with a foreigner who doesn't look like you, and that doesn't pledge allegiance to our flag.

BAN : 1) F1 OPT, 2) H4 EAD, 3) Home Mortgage to temp visa holders, 4) SBA loans to temp visa holders, 5) Change of status or visa extension for (H1Bs or any other work visa type) None of these were approved by congress. @POTUS @StephenM @VP JUST DO IT @realDonaldTrump !! If Trump admin can't get rid of these then, it can never be done later. These are low hanging fruits to get rid without congress approval.

One Simple Law That Protects Our Investment in America Ban non-citizens from purchasing residential real estate in the United States. That is it. One rule. Our grandparents and parents worked their whole lives to own a home and pass it to their children. Now foreign buyers and investors drive up prices in many cities while young Americans cannot afford a starter house. This law protects the American dream our generations built for their own families. Reply with what you have seen in your area about housing prices and who is buying.
