Cydna Substation, Houghton South East Distributor: The outage is due to a cable fault and damaged equipment. The team managed to restore power up to 75% and repairs on the remaining 25% will resume tomorrow morning.
This outage affects customers in Houghton, Killarney and surrounding areas.

#DBENews| Update on the Milnerton High School Bullying Incident The Department has been in close contact with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) following a deeply concerning alleged assault at Milnerton High School. We can confirm the following: •The school immediately launched an internal investigation, identified those involved, and the School Governing Body approved the precautionary suspension of eight learners pending disciplinary hearings. •Counselling and psychosocial support are being provided to those affected. •The school is following all required protocols with the seriousness this matter warrants. The Department of Education urges the public not to share the video footage, as doing so deepens the victim’s trauma and violates the dignity and rights of all learners. *Cydna Substation Update:* Work at the Substation is still in progress. The Protection team is currently on the ground attending to the required repairs. Once the repair work has been finalised, the teams will conduct the necessary testing and proceed with power restoration if all tests are successful.
Customers in Inanda, Athol, Illovo, Melrose, parts of Hyde Park, and surrounding areas remain affected.
We are still on track to restoring power at 18h00 this evening if all goes as planned.

Our teams have managed to restore approximately 82% of the power supply. Repairs remain in progress, as our teams work around the clock to ensure full restorations are achieved.
Due to the complexity of repairs and the extent of the damage, the ETR has, however, been revised to 18:00 tomorrow, provided all goes accordingly.
The outage affects customers in Norwood, Oaklands, Elton Hill, Melrose, Birdhaven, Waverly, Highlands North, Bramley, Illovo, Houghton, Killarney, Riviera Atholl, Inanda, Hyde Park, Abbotsford, Winston Ridge, and possible surroundings.
