25 November is the international day for the elimination of violence against women. This year, like every year for the past few, we’ll be posting the UK women killed by men since #IDEVAW last year. Starting at 8.30am and commemorating one woman every 5 mins.

25 Nov is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. As previous years, we’ll be naming the UK women killed by men since #IDEVAW last year. Currently we have 93 women killed in the UK or UK women killed abroad where men have been identified as the killer

We have recorded at least 80 UK women and girls aged 13 and over who have been killed so far in 2025 in circumstances in which a man or men are primary suspects. We know that over the course of the next weeks and months, this figure will increase.

Today we honour Jack and Paul Sykes, two young lives lost 11 years ago to domestic abuse.
Their mother, Claire Throssell, made a promise to her boys to change the law and protect other children. Today, that promise is fulfilled.
The Government has repealed the presumption of parental involvement, ending the legal assumption that abusive parents should have contact with their children.

I'm extremely pleased to see the government announce that it is going to repeal the presumption of parental involvement.
This is a huge victory for @clairethrossell and others have fought tirelessly to ensure children lives aren't put at risk due to unsafe contact orders.

A new report from @VictimsComm has found staggeringly low confidence in the criminal justice system, particularly for victims of domestic abuse.
All parts of the system need urgent reform to rebuild victims' trust and deliver the justice they deserve.

I welcome the @CommissionerDA’s comprehensive new report showing domestic abuse is still too often minimised and contact prioritised over safety in the family court.
We must end presumption of contact, make good practice the norm, and now urgently review child sexual abuse cases

67 children killed in 30 years.
19 in just the last 9.
All during child contact with a known abuser.
This isn’t rare. It’s systemic.
