#OnThisDay 100 years ago in 1923 the Captain of HMS VERNON, a training hulk in Portsmouth, transferred ashore to be hoisted in the new shore establishment of the same name on the Gunwharf site. Over the years it served as a Diving, Mine Counter-measures and SONAR base until 1986
I saw an interesting question by a veteran from another SM Group, who was lucky enough to get a place on the upcoming Remembrance Day parade 🌺. His question was which cap badge should he wear, with the Kings or Queens crown? Would it be a personal choice given you served the Queen for most of your career? Thoughts on this folks? 🤔

Today got invited along to a memorial service and Headstone Dedication in Kedington to a local lad George Smith who in 1943 aged 20 went to the aid of the crew of a Stirling Bomber that had crashed in the village. He rescued one man but on returning to the aircraft to rescue 1/2
