So it does then circle back to the political parties (and system) and what they stand for/offer the electorate

Not sure how long you’ve lived there? We owned a unit there for eight years. It was horrid. The number of times I saw people crapping in the alley and even on the sidewalk in front on 1st. The tents for three years on Spring between 1st and Western. The naked guy in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon masturbating right in front of the argosy cruise terminal. The multiple break-in’s of cars in our “secure” garage. We saw it all, did not feel so we moved. You can ask Joel, he manages the building. It did get a bit better in the last six months.

You know what should feature a lot more prominently in post apocalyptic settings? Bicycles. If you have a society with remaining technical knowledge but suddenly without access to more resource heavy modes of transportation seems like a natural thing for people to turn to.
