The WA budget has sadly turned into a way to redistribute money to politically-aligned entities like consulting companies and unions.
That's why, despite more than doubling spending in the past decade, so many livability outcome metrics have declined: academic outcomes, road quality, homelessness, affordability, and more.
WA State spending isn't seen as a way to improve outcomes, but as a way to enrich activist groups and consultants, with comparatively little going to improve livability outcomes.

BUT it’s not like he had to beat the 2 best players on his tour to win this. He beat Sam Stevens, Johnny Keefer, Paul Waring & the less good Hojgaard twin.

@BoomerDivvies Anyone not counting true home equity as an asset, and therefore part of net worth, is missing the bigger picture. Even better with a paid off home. Of course my home is not a cash flowing instrument so it does not enter into income computations. But it’s an asset of real value.

@jhova1313 @themoviedadsc That’s the way we used to do it. Out the driveway by 4:30 or 5:00 am. Three kids (and sometimes my wife) fall back asleep as we make great time those first few hours. Created many great road trip memories. Now my kids do the same with theirs.

@themoviedadsc I’m with you on that, don’t like the overnight drive. We typically leave at 430-5am and kids go back to sleep. Depends on age I guess. Either way Ft Lauderdale sounds awesome this time of year!

Drive is brutal, but my worst nightmare is getting caught in this TSA mess flying with 3 young kids

The primary participants of "No Kings" are white, elderly Boomers.
These are the people who have locked in rent control, tax benefits, Social Security, and countless other structural benefits that keep their lifestyles afloat.
They are the modern-day "landed gentry"...

@annbauerwriter @S___Elliott Yes. Some people have a hard time understanding that. You don’t vote for president (or any election) in a vacuum. There is always a choice to be made. In some cases neither candidate/ticket may be appealing. But one must be better than the other.

I generally vote Democrat. I haven't voted for a Republican in my life.
But I would absolutely vote for Donald Trump for mayor of Chicago if the only other choice was Brandon Johnson, and I'd be voting for the less corrupt politician.

The reality is, if we had a king or a dictator, you would not be strolling around the park in a paper crown screaming about him. You would actually be silenced and punished for dissent. As it is, you’re wasting a beautiful Saturday proving what a low iq fool you are.

This is exactly how we "make money" with our primary residence.
Bought a smaller modest home in 2020 (3.25% 30-yr mortgage). Our monthly payment is only 14% of our NET monthly income.
Allows us to easily my wife's entire salary into stock ETFs in our taxable brokerage account.

Here is the best (but unsexy) way to make money with your own residential housing: 1. Rent or buy something modest and below your means (ie: 15-30% of your annual income, not 35-40%) 2. Take the savings and start a business or put it in a diversified stock portfolio
