Lead Organzier & DC Public Charter School graduates, Ceon shared, "Choosing to [put police back in schools] is irresponsible and says 1. You don't care about the harm Black, brown, and youth with disabilities are experiencing at the hands of police.

Young person, after young person, talked about the trauma, harassment, fear that is experienced due to the presence of school police. Why are you willing to gamble with the emotional and physical safety of Black youth?

A few suggested that police in schools would never cause harm to a child. All while this news was quietly released. @CMBrookePinto this is NOT a matter of "training". Maria from @adv_project testified, "Police in schools IS the violence." This is a prime example of that.

We spent all day at MPD hearing yesterday, MOST witnesses were clear that they did NOT want police in schools for these exact reasons. Some you can see were struggling with whether it should be police or others supporting schools with safety concerns.

.@MayorBowser @DCPoliceDept 17 year old Dalaneo Martin was killed by Park Police this morning. The City took his lifeless body away as a John Doe while his mother and family cried screamed & beg to identify him. Debo is a person that was treated like property. #BlacklivesMatter
