The stunning, unbelievable, career defining EF-1 SW of Wyoming, IL last Tuesday, I'm so sorry to all of you that stayed east and missed this once in a lifetime tornado.

@Stormchaser_TS Halloween night 2003, my parents pulled me out of bed and took me outside in the light polluted to hell suburbs and the sky was wall to wall dancing corona

Do you remember your first Aurora? I was 11 years old when I saw the northern lights with the naked eye with my grandparents. So that’s 23 years ago around the great Halloween storm. Since then, my very first time photographing them was in Bunker Hill, Illinois March 2015 and then my first actual good show of photographing them was September 2017.

People with the power to do so should be telling folks at the Wx Channel, Weather Nation, Fox Weather, etc to stop using/buying footage from CJ.

I think we are batting 1000 or higher on accidents per event so far this year. 2026 is the season we finally get tired of ignoring unresolved incidents and speedrun the next great chasing disaster!

@wxmann I was very confused why upward leaders would choose there to route from, but that is definitely multiple reflections in panes of glass

5. Near Cabrry, Illinois, slightly before the Kankakee supercell went ballistic, Juston and I made a decision to race west for new convection hoping for a fresh start, bc we were concerned the Kankakee supercell wouldn't react so quickly - we immediately regretted that decision

This depends on a large difference in LCL and LFC, where parcels LFC are forced to rise through a stable layer. Ideally this happens through a subsaturated environmental layer. Otherwise, instead of structure, the result would be 'danger stratus'.

If we do end up with storms on the cool side of the stationary/lake front boundary crossing into the warm sector, I bet they will have some pretty otherworldly laminar structure.

I have family in Aurora, Plainfield, and Joliet, Illinois. It’ll be a little tough explaining to them the stark difference in tornado risk levels they’re in 😂
