I've decided that I need to be on here more. I heard on a rather popular podcast, during the replay of the summit, that they had "never heard that name ever before in my life" when I was introduced. That tells me that my outreach has fallen significantly and I need to do better.

@erikfox2000 Yesterday was great. Had zero issues with the convergence. Did hit a traffic jam that led to my getting pummeled by hail, but if I didn't want hail dents, I shouldn't have been near the core, so that's on me.

Observation from yesterday… most everyone appeared to be experienced around storms and it showed. Good job everyone… I really think the issues with chase convergence is the same change in the 1998 to 1999 time frame post Twister, we are experiencing post Twisters/You Tube “fame”! I didn’t really see families of inexperienced people. Good job everyone! #chasson

Capped-killed bust days in Oklahoma and south-central Kansas are boring, but prioritizing good company over chasing in conga lines of frustrated drivers is always the right call now days.

@sdantwx @Stormchaser @hbwx Yeah, gotta plan for the hoards now. At least in CO, I know the terrain, road network, storm evolution, etc. I can fend off the hoards easily on my home turf...provided no one blocks underpasses. Missed Akron last year because of that

@sdantwx @Stormchaser @hbwx Yeah, there were several times where we found ourselves alone, but a lot of our positioning calls were within the conga line. We chased as we always do, but there just happened to be 7000 of our closest friends there too...

Strange take - I feel bad for contributing to the convergence by chasing on Monday. I was one more car that didn't really need to be there. I'm a fine arts photographer, Monday was not the set up for my style of chasing. I got duped by the MOD/15% risk wanted IA 2024 again.

@Stormchaser @hbwx I actually feel bad for chasing on Monday. I was part of the problem. I added to the convergence just by being there. Definitely planning on sticking closer to home for a while. The fact that EMS struggled to respond to calls doesn't sit well with me.

@hbwx Absolutely. The conga-line situation is not going to end well, especially with people blocking underpasses and inexperienced locals joining the lines. I'm hearing scanner traffic from EMS and firefighters that it's becoming impossible to respond to emergencies.

@VinceWaelti Just remember why you're out there in the first place. We're so lucky to be able to experience weather phenomenon rarely seen elsewhere in the world. It's easy to get sucked into the drama, I'm guilty of it too. Hang in there. Here's some shots to cleanse the timeline a bit.

Oh my god shut the F up about the dumbest “you can’t do this, I said so, you can’t do that, too many cars, blah blah blah” and chase the damn storms holy christ people. NO BODY CARES BUT YOU. The home page is totally clogged with this crap. It’s the middle of storm season and you’re spending your time analyzing decisions made frame by frame when there’s storms like this outside. God dang.

Our first field course leaves on Thursday! Our current target area is from La Junta, CO, to Amarillo, TX. This is barely reachable with a 6am departure. My chief concern is storms may outrun the relatively narrow instability axis before we can get to them or form too far west.
