@rupasubramanya Because its moronic. If you want a nation-building project, double-track the entire rail system from Vancouver and Prince Rupert to Halifax and expand the port facilities. And pitch in gov funds in return for dedicated passenger slots, so you have on-time service nation-wide.

The Conservatives continue to lose the plot but hey what else is new. Why does Pierre Poilievre increasingly sound like Jagmeet Singh. It's a disgrace that a modern G7 country doesn't have high speed rail. And by not building high-speed rail between its major cities isn't being "fiscally responsible," it’s falling behind once again. This is the moment for big, nation-building infrastructure, not timid politics. Thinking small is exactly how Canada got stuck.

a total lie. My house has bookshelves in every room except the bathroom. Even the bathrooms have shelves with some books on them. Just not purpose-built shelves. EVERY ROOM. The Laundry room. The storage room. The family room has a whole wall that's just floor to ceiling books. I admit my house is a little excessive (my dad loved books and gathered them his whole life) but all my friends have bookshelves too.

@BellikOzan Absolutely. Someone will figure out how people can refuel, repair, refurbish, more cheaply in (GEO?) orbit. Then comes the junkyard for replacement parts, the b&b, the general store. Then the tourists show up, and it becomes a way-point to L5. But it needs an anchor industry.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said today “Iran will be at the World Cup.” “The matches will be played where they are supposed to be, according to the draw,” he said. Iran is scheduled for three games on U.S. soil this summer. frontofficesports.com/iran-us-world-…

@WallStreetApes It isn't to difficult though to believe a BILLIONAIRE would be sold out to the Republican Party, as Republicans tend to cater to the wealthy and powerful! Democrats on the other hand concentrate on policies and changes that help those who are poor and vulnerable.

Billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya explains that once he learned the mainstream media was lying to him, he left the Democrat Party “You went from being a large Democrat donor to now a very outspoken proponent on the other side of the aisle” Chamath Palihapitiya “Yeah — This is not about politics for me, it's about the truth. There was a moment where I was basically like everybody else, and pretty brainwashed. My media diet was very much the same as everybody else's. I read the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. I watched a little bit of CNN, a little bit of CNBC, a little bit of MSNBC, a little bit of CBS Economist. Every now and then you encounter it on a plane and you think you know what's going on, and I had a perception of Donald Trump initially, from the moment he walked down the staircase in Trump Tower to announce. And then over the course of 6-7 years, I realized that some of those fundamental things that I was told about him were just totally false. And there was enough content online where I was almost afraid, but it started with Charlottesville. I was almost afraid to look at it because I'm like, I think I was lied to. And then I saw it. I saw what he said, but then I saw the portrayal. I had originally believed that portrayal until I saw the truth. And then I just started to go down that rabbit hole. So for me, it was an evolution where I was like, I can't believe I'm being lied to by this group of people whose sole responsibility is to hold truth, to power. The key word there is truth to power, not your perception or your desires. And I just think that that, that, I mean, red-pilled me, I guess in a way”

@ClaireBerlinski “Very good.” You’re hopeless. Iran may be a theocracy but its leaders have shown time and time again that they act rationally and in their own self interest. If Iran had truly wanted nukes, they would have had them long ago. There was NO need for war.

This is very good, should have been said at the outset, and is Marco the president now? If so, it's a huge improvement. Now, tell us how we're going to get that HEU. Just tell me that, and I'll be happy.
Eric Daugherty@EricLDaugh

🚨 BREAKING: Sec. Marco Rubio just dropped TRUTH NUKES on the doubters for two minutes straight, and he said it perfectly He's so good at this. "Under NO circumstances can a country run by radical Shia clerics with an apocalyptic vision of the future ever possess nuclear weapons, and under no circumstances can they be allowed to hide and protect that program and their ambitions behind a shield of missiles and drones that no one can do anything about!" "Many Americans are asking, why did the United States have to attack Iran now? Well, let me EXPLAIN." "Iran wants to have nuclear weapons...they build their reactors and their facilities deep in mountains, away from the public glare, and they want to enrich that material." "Why the attack now? Well, what was Iran trying to do? Iran was trying to build a conventional shield, in essence, have so many missiles, have so many drones, that no one could attack them, and they were well on their way." "We were on the verge of an Iran that had so many missiles and so many drones, that no one could do anything about their nuclear weapons program in the future. That was an intolerable risk." "This was our LAST best chance to eliminate that conventional threat, that conventional shield that they were trying to build, and the president made the right decision to wipe it out now." "That is the goal of this operation, to destroy their conventional missiles and their drone program so they can't hide behind it, and finally have to deal with a world seriously about never ever having nuclear weapons." WELL SAID, MARCO 🇺🇸

There probably is a role there, but not as easy as we think. A worker with a 90 IQ can dig a ditch (as per US army). A worker with -1 SD needs a supervisor who could likely be doing more work without the 'help'. Correlates with my own experience. Sure we can make it work, but admit up front that it doesn't increase productivity, it just makes us feel better.

@Loteknik Move them off welfare into meaningful work that is within their capability, and that gives them dignity. We're rich. We can afford this. It could be more than paid for by limiting social programs to those making less than median income.

@Loteknik My first reaction is "I got nothing", but no. I think we need to challenge the phrase "meaningfully contribute". Anyone in this situation is on welfare by definition. Pay them somewhat more and establish an industry. Mowing public lawns, cleaning public buildings, etc. 1/2

So @francoislegault, let me ask you a question. If they did a search and it turned out that the 15th most qualified candidate was the only one who could speak French, that would be your pick? Not one who can profitably run an airline? Not one who can ensure the millions of passenger's safety each year? Your entire choice would be based on some imaginary disrespect?

@ezralevant @DwayneMihalicz Why did CPC undercut CDNs and sell CWB assets to Saudi Gov't opening the doors for them to take over the grain industry in Canada? What under the table deals were made? Remember the Minister in charge of that deal got Hall of Fame. Maybe Liberals hands are tied.

@DailyMail She is a world-famous throat singer. She did one of Bjork's albums. Whoever got her to sing a pop song did her dirty as she is not a pop vocalist. But this headline is demented, I'm sorry.
