Admit it: Your kid mispronounced a word three years ago and now the whole family says it that way. What's the word in your house? (We still say 'pasketti' and I’m not stopping anytime soon.)

@foreverMagoo71 @TristinHopper Pilots speak English. I’m sure his family understands. The CEO of Air Canada is not required to be bilingual. Put your outrage towards the occurrence of this dreadful air traffic accident, not your perceived language issue.

Air Canada has gone 43 (!) years without a fatal incident. My entire life up to this point has been lived in a country where the flag carrier never got a single person killed in a crash. The record is a totem to what serious people can accomplish. So naturally, Mark Carney is screaming at them to instead focus on nonsense.
Harrison Faulkner@Harry__Faulkner

PM Mark Carney on Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau delivering a video address only in English: "I'm very disappointed, as others are, rightly so, in this unilingual message of the CEO...lack of judgement and a lack of compassion."

Bloc Leader Blanchet is calling on the Carney Liberals to pressure the Air Canada board to fire CEO Michael Rousseau. The reason: an English only response after the LaGuardia crash. Of everything happening in Canada and Quebec right now… this is the priority?
The Real Mr Bench@therealmrbench

"Lack of Judgement Lack of compassion Disappointed" Those are terms Mark Carney used to describe Air Canada CEO. Reason: only giving a statement in English after the LaGuardia Airport plane crash

Reads like an Onion satire of what has become of the Canadian bureaucratic state. A fatal airline accident, and the Minister of Transport’a response is to focus on the language of the CEO’s condolence message. (Technical note for Ottawa: anyone can now instantly generate an audio or text translation of the video statement.)

Canada's Dirty Little Secret: Exposing the MAiD Predators Part 3 Name: Heather Hancock - 50 years old Where: Victoria General Hospital - British Columbia and Medicine Hat Regional Hospital - Alberta Date: 2018, 2019 What Happened: Heather lives with Cerebral Palsy. The 3 times she was offered MAiD was due to episodes of spastic paralysis. In the first solicitation, the attending Emergency Dr. offered MAiD, "as the doctor deemed my level of suffering intolerable, yet would not treat my pain or send me to a pain clinic". "My second admission found me in a hospital bed in the back hallway of the neurological rehabilitation ward of Victoria General. Again, I was offered MAiD by a Dr. with definite malice in that coercive attempt. No name tags or ID tags were visible at the time. Both times I refused MAiD and told them to do their jobs. They didn't like that." The third time, in 2019, Heather was admitted to Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, again with spasticity. She says she was treated with the "utmost of contempt". "The RN was careful to remove her name tag or ID badge before entering my room. She believed I was faking paralysis. She was the one who offered MAiD saying, 'if I were in your shoes I would take it in a heartbeat. You aren't LIVING, you're EXISTING!' I was stunned and horrified. Again, I refused and she shook her head in disgust telling me I was being utterly 'SELFISH'. Heather has spent many years as a writer since her encounters with the MAiD Squads and has become a published author of an award-winning novel called, "Sister Lost". Heather says, "I am doing so much more than merely existing, I am contributing in a myriad of ways! Our lives count and should be valued."

A TikTok by @colascornerrr (Cola) says racism in Canada, especially Ontario, is still systemic, less obvious than in the U.S. but built into education, healthcare, and housing. She argues Black and brown communities, including kids, still face stacked odds and says she’s done debating people who deny it, focusing instead on protecting her family, adding “they’re just a little bit nicer about it.” Canada is supposedly this deeply racist country, yet it offers programs like the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund with loans up to $250,000, Black Opportunity Fund grants, wage subsidies for hiring Black workers, and targeted homeownership initiatives. On top of that, billions in foreign aid are sent to countries many immigrants come from, all funded by taxpayers. It is Canadians who are suffering at the expense of these people.

@Mr_Husky1 I call fake. Most jurisdictions essential drugs like insulin or nitro spray require no prescription. In most jurisdictions pharmacists can extend a prescription for a regular non-narcotic medication. Techs are not pharmacists and don’t know the rules.

I’m a pharmacy tech. Chain store. We have a policy. No prescription, no medication. Period. Man came in. Late fifties. Asked for insulin. “I ran out. My prescription’s expired. Doctor’s appointment isn’t until next week.” Checked his records. Type 1 diabetic. Last fill was on time. He wasn’t scamming. “I can’t give it to you without a prescription. Policy.” He nodded. Started to leave. Knew what would happen. Diabetic emergency. Hospital. Maybe worse. Called his doctor’s office. Closed. Left a message marked urgent. Called the pharmacist over. Explained. She looked at the man. Looked at me. “We can do a three-day emergency supply. I’ll authorize it.” Gave him three days of insulin. He tried to pay. She refused. “Get your prescription filled next week. This one’s on us.” He left crying. Thank you over and over. Came back the next week. Prescription filled. Brought us flowers. “You saved my life. I would’ve ended up in the ER. Or dead. For following policy.” That pharmacist got written up. Corporate found out. Medication given without valid prescription. She didn’t care. “Write me up every time,” she told the district manager. “I’ll break policy every time to save a life.” She still works there. Still breaks policy. For people who need insulin. Inhalers. Heart medication. Three-day supplies. Emergencies. Corporate stopped writing her up. Decided it was easier to look away. Because sometimes policy kills. And sometimes breaking rules saves lives. —Andrea, pharmacy tech

You go to the US. You see Fried Chicken and Waffles on menus and you think: sure, I like those things separately. Who says they can’t go together? I like freedom. Perhaps my Euro mind can comprehend. Maple syrup on savoury? Why not? But then you try and it’s like: no. This is bad. Just beige poison. Culinary hubris. An American abomination of abundance. It’s yucky.

A disturbing case out of Canada is fueling renewed alarm over the country’s expanding euthanasia regime after an 84-year-old woman says doctors pushed “assisted suicide” onto her before she had even been examined. The woman, identified as Miriam, said the doctor tried to pressure her into being euthanized before attempting to determine what was wrong with her. slaynews.com/news/canadian-…
