I welcome the decision, supported by an overwhelming majority of countries, to remove Karim Khan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. This decision exposes the truth. Karim Khan was accused of sexually harassing women who worked under him. It was precisely as these allegations emerged that he canceled his planned visit to Israel, abandoned his previous commitment to thoroughly examine Israel’s independent judicial system, and suddenly moved to pursue arrest warrants against me and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. He did so to divert attention from the allegations against him and to rally Israel’s enemies around him as a political shield. That shield has now been torn away. What has been exposed is not only Karim Khan’s true motivation, but also the profound injustice and corruption that have infected both the Office of the Prosecutor and the International Criminal Court itself. Last night, I spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He once again reaffirmed America’s determination to act forcefully against this institution—an institution that undermines justice, attacks democratic and sovereign nations, and seeks to subordinate their security to the decisions of unaccountable and corrupt officials in The Hague. This is a very positive development. The truth must now be heard throughout the world.

🔵 NEW: Israel Assassinates North Gaza Police Chief Israeli forces targeted and killed Col. Abdel Nasser Mohammed al-Maqadmeh, 54, director of police for the North Gaza governorate, in an airstrike on Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood Saturday, according to Gaza’s Interior Ministry. Several others were reportedly wounded. Footage filmed by Palestinian journalist Adham Majed shows crowds gathering amid extensive destruction following the strike. The ministry said Israel has killed 53 police officers in direct attacks since the ceasefire was announced last October, including seven in the July 14 strike on Jabalia’s police station, describing the attacks as a systematic effort to eliminate Gaza’s police and other law enforcement personnel and sow chaos and disorder. Al-Maqadmeh had served in the Palestinian police since its establishment in 1994 and previously led the Jabalia refugee camp police, the ministry said.

By finally removing Karim Khan, the ICC did the bare minumum. Whoever sexually abuses employees must be held to account. But so too must the ICC. Questions must now be asked about how the court shielded this disgraced predator and kept him as their chief prosecutor for so long.

In effect, it seeks to subject their security to the decisions of a corrupt clique in The Hague.”
