Thomas Pangle just uploaded this: A Translation of the Texts to which Strauss Refers his Readers in his Footnotes to Natural Right and History, chap 4, "Classic Natural Right" This is a massively useful resource—and a great reason to re-read NRH 4. academia.edu/166249491/A_Tr…

この本,めちゃくちゃ面白そう.論理の多元論に反対して,唯一の「正しい」論理が存在するという一元論を擁護する.論理体系「について」推論する際のメタ論理は多元的ではあり得ないのでは?という直観があるので,気になる. academic.oup.com/book/43997

The importance of deep reading and critical thinking as our brains adapt to digital distractions and information overload is the subject of this year’s Princeton Pre-read book, "Reader, Come Home: The Reading Brain in a Digital World" by Maryanne Wolf: bit.ly/3OcXYP5 “I chose ‘Reader, Come Home’ as this year’s Pre-read because it addresses a question of vital importance to every entering student: Why should we continue to read long, challenging books when artificial intelligence agents can quickly summarize them for us?” President Christopher Eisgruber writes in his foreword to the special Pre-read edition of the book. “Deep, immersive reading is at the heart of a Princeton education,” Eisgruber writes, adding that “today, more than ever, that activity depends upon conscious and energetic commitment. We are most likely to read books fully and well only if we understand why they offer us something distinctive, valuable, and irreplaceable.”

Aeschylus's Oresteia is a supreme work of literature -- a drama that moves from the personal to the political, from domestic horror to theological settlement, from the archaic logic of retribution to civic justice. My review of Richard Jenkyns's book: classicsforall.org.uk/reading-room/b…

Publication day. The complete 3‑volume Leibniz’s Philosophical Papers is now out from @OUPAcademic. The volumes contain hundreds of texts, the majority in English for the first time, and some never published before in any form. For anyone interested in early modern philosophy.

This article from History of Humanities focuses on the contributions of Heinrich Wölfflin and Alois Reigl to art history and argues that they represent two very different epistemological cultures. Read it here: ow.ly/NinG50YQ4RH.
