@girdley I predicted this early on. It is going to be an AI echo chamber. Same will happen with posts too. Creators will have AI create and schedule all their content.

I'm at the point now where I assume every reply from a stranger on X is AI-written. Perhaps the fix for social media is that AI will make it totally unusable.

@girdley I think it has more to do with the "There are no jobs for you because of AI" narrative. They don't want to acknowledge useless degrees were never going anywhere.

Many of the teens I know are violently anti-AI. Bad for society and the planet, they say. Given what phones have done to their generation, I think they have a point.

@girdley On another note, alcohol in any form is incredibly expensive. Drugs are incredibly cheap. Even meth and crack are more cost efficient than alcohol.

Every time I talk publicly about the alcohol industry, I get replies like this one. What's mind-blowing is that the wine/spirits/beer industry has done nothing to counteract the idea that any alcohol at all is "poison." Teens believe it -- and that THC is good for you.

@girdley Liberals spent 2 decades running a massive "Drugs are ok" campaign. Look at Portland, they actually legalized ALL illicit drugs to support their message. Anything that alters your perception is killing brain cells. There is no scenario where that is a net benefit.

@_TraderLarry I believe they are way undervalued. And I rarely say that about anything in this market.

@techspence Sometimes? Have you seen the rate of $MSFT patches and the disruption they cause?

IT teams need to get comfortable with either auto deploying patches and sometimes causing major issues or having a large number of unpatched vulnerabilities in their environments.

And here's the thing: Nolan spent $250+ million on production and another $150+ million on advertising —so to recover ~$400M in actual studio revenue (after exhibitors fees), the movie would generally need: ABOUT $800M WORLDWIDE GROSS… ...IN TWO WEEKS! This is what happens when you prioritize DEI checkboxes over giving the audience what they actually want. Can’t wait for the copium when it opens soft and legs die instantly.

@_andrewthecoder If you have applied for over 2,000 roles, you are clearly using "Quick Apply". You are competing with all of the Indians and your resume is getting thrown out with theirs.

I have a hard time believing that I am just unhireable. But I have an even harder time believing that my 25 years of experience is somehow negated by the format of my resume. But, after over 2,000 applications, I am not sure what else to think. And, out of the dozens of emails (perhaps over 100) to hiring managers with inquiries about what might be happening, I have received ZERO response. I have done some reverse engineering of some popular ATS systems and found some interesting trends; things like translating words like "founder" and "freelancer" to "unemployed", as one example (though, admittedly, the end user of the ATS is responsible for such translations). So, now add to everything else, I am being punished for running successful businesses for over a decade. Kind of at the end of my rope here. I have to start thinking about what retirement looks like, and I am just plain NOT HIREABLE. Career change at this point doesn't seem likely. I have literally never done anything professionally other than write software (at least, not since college anyway). This is actually going to start affecting my way of life, my standard of living, not to mention the people that count on me to provide. Please don't take this as anything more than venting. I am not blaming anyone, and I am not looking for sympathy. I know a lot of you are experiencing a very similar situation!

@techspence Impossible to determine which of those 5,000 vulnerabilities is the one that will lead to an incident.

It really makes me sad when I see small IT teams struggling to fix 5k “medium” and “high” vulnerabilities that have absolutely zero real impact, meanwhile, they still have Antivirus (partially deployed), no app control, no real security monitoring, same local admin password everywhere, no regular pentests, etc.
