You paid for the ride. There is a special misery in watching people hand their lives away so cheaply. For a brand. For a slogan you do not even examine before you wear it. Human beings get a narrow stretch of years. A short window in which to think, create, love, build, and learn the difficult art of governing themselves. You took yours and offered them up to a mascot. You hollowed out your hours and handed them to a collective impulse you did not author and cannot describe. You became a placeholder. A profile picture. A throat for someone else's slogan. You should feel shame. A severe shame. A clarifying shame. The kind that wakes you at 3 a.m. Because you are consenting to your own diminishment, and you are doing it on schedule, on autopilot, with a smile. But shame requires a reserve of independence. Enough self-possession to recognize a fall when you are inside one. Many of you no longer possess that reserve. It has been sanded down. Engagement-farmed. Algorithmically reshaped. You have given years of finite life to a man who regards you as expendable, a donor class that regards you as inventory, and a parasite ecosystem of grifters feeding on your loyalty like ticks on a tired dog. You are directly responsible for the cheapest carnival of corruption this country has ever staged. An administration packed with greed, vanity, opportunism, incompetence, patronage, and self-service. The spectacle barely bothers with disguise. Even the lies are lazy now. They are not engineered to persuade. They are engineered to test how much you will eat. And you eat. There has always been a class of men willing to be kicked by their betters and to thank them for the boot. Men who pinned their faith to leaders who did not believe a word of their own sermons. At least the old ones could blame poverty, conscription, a press gang at the door. You cannot. You volunteered. You lined up. You begged for a flag to wave. You will be remembered as the people who saw the wreck coming, were warned in plain language, and welded yourselves to the hull.

Massie my have morals and convictions but he's absolutely useless as a Representative in the same way Rand Paul is. His entire platform is built on opposing everything and constantly bitching without ever actually proposing a realistic solution. He's alienated himself so much he has no hope of ever getting anything passed but kept campaigning on being the guy who would fix what's wrong with government. The truth is that he has zero chance of ever fixing a thing because he's a terrible politician. He was a wasted vote. No chance of ever getting anything done and obstructed his own party constantly when they were trying to get something done. It's a hard reality, but compromise has to happen. We got in our problems bit by bit and we have to get out the same way. You can't just make one sweeping law that cleans it up.

Small sample size but does reflect in the disconnect I see. People on here are so emotional they can't even make realistic predictions.
