@atlanticesque Also might be an element of Britain trying to push its multiculturalism at the same point that its prevailing nonwhite cultures took a nosedive.
Cantonese, British Indians, and Caribbeans all had their own cool factor that complemented the host culture. New arrivals not so much.

Why did it die? There’s pedestrian reasons like changing tastes and the phasing out of the relevant fandoms, and perhaps deeper reasons like the decline of London finance and Brexit.
But also, ~2016 was when europhilia began dying hard among leftists, now allergic to whiteness.

Left-Europhilia is almost dead. The neolibs have pivoted to American triumphalism, and the hard left can no longer bear even a whiff of whiteness in its ideals. Only some left-urbanists and socdems still admire the old world. Yet old reflexive Right-Europhobia is still dominant.
